putting 17s on an e63 estate
yeah, yeah,
(post the usual derision here and be done with it!)
anyway, i live in brooklyn, NY and the roads here (especially Manhattan) are horrendous. (i've cracked three wheels on my e500 wagon due to hidden holes! AND, they are 17s. how i hate NY)
i am purchasing an e63 estate (my dream street car except i am getting the wrong color) this week and i worry about the 18s. i had 19s on my STOLEN![Mad](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/mad.gif)
subie STI and they worked OK here because they were good forged wheels (SSR s). But the mercedes OEM wheels are not particularly tough. (are they ronals?) i worry about the AMG wheels being 18s and probably the same manufacturer as the e500's.
to cut this unbearably long question short, does anyone have a recommendation for 17s on the e63 wagon? or really tough 18s that fit on an e63?
thanks so much!

I'm guessing 18s are coming with the car? If so run those until they crack, curbed or get stolen. You have to look at it this way, 18 will provide a bit more clearance than 17s.

I'm surprised the stock wheels bent / cracked, and I would bet the MB /AMG wheels are make by Ronal, I know all the BMW wheels are.
I would say you have 2 choices (If there is not a 17" fitment)
Run + 1 tire size on the 18's (245/45-18 and 265/40-18) or run the "Standard" fitment 245/40-18 and 275/35-18 and keep the pressure at no less than 40. Option 2 works well until you forget to check, and get down to 30... WHAM...
