The better things of an E55 than of a CL55?

I figured this would be the best place to ask this since I know you guys love your E55s very very much. I came from an SL55 AMG which was far from stock and plan on going this same route with another 55K motor or maybe even a V12 Bi-Turbo. The reason for selling the SL55 was to pursue a new business venture and since a few good months things have really been good. For the time being I bought myself a JEEP SRT8 to spend money on gas and get me around where ever I needed to go. Now I want to come back to the AMG scene and do it with 4 seats, does not have to be a 4-door but has to sit 4. I like the fact that from time to time I can fit more than one other person in the car with me. So with what is going on with the 55k scene and how fast people are going I want to give the 55k another try, I was planning on buying a CL65 but the warranty really scares me off With what is in plans for the 55k platform from different vendors I think the 55k may be a quick beast soon enough to stand up to a 600 or 65.

Let me hear you guys out should I get an E55 AMG or should I go with a CL55.CL65? What made you decide to go with the E and not the CL if that was even in plans?

Thanks

KAMIL

My OLD SL55 I MISS HER VERY VERY MUCH

I like the car but looking into something more sporty. Yeah I got it for $25,700 with 100k warranty. "Retail" is 34k but carmax offered me 26k for it lol

P.S. Might lease a new car like a Kia Optima or a Hyundai Volester

If you're young I would say CLS. E55 strong point is the stealthy look and somewhat lighter than CL, CLS, or even SL.

Pretty sure the E is the only one you can really use the back seat unless under 6 feet. CL and CLS rear seats are pretty pathetic

I think there is a CL65 for $32K but again CL65 AMG will be very expensive to take care. CLS55 or E55 is the best combination. If you have kids E class or CLS are both good. And the quickest 55K chassis so far still the E class.

Just get a E55. More reliable than a V12 from what I've seen. Cheaper to mod for the most part and obviously they can be very quick too. Best of all you can get one for much less than a V12 and put that extra money into mods and be way ahead of the V12 AMG's of the same price.

I was torn between the CLS versus the E initially, The E in my eyes has a nicer interior ( the CLS felt like a Nissan interior to me) and theirs just something about the front end of the CLS that turns me off...back looks great, side looks fine but the front end has that ugly 996 Porsche look they obviously screwed up on (round headlights please!). As for the 12 cylinder cars, I wouldn't be scared of one personally because I will spin any wrench for any reason. If that were not the case and I depended on others to fix my toys...55K car all day long. I looked towards a CL65 as an option for a short while however the extremely limited production run in my mind equaled insanely priced, hard to find parts.

hate to disagree, imho cls is beautiful.

to op , forget the CL .. interior is very out dated at least for me.

ive an e55 and i love it. i would suggest you to buy CLS55 or e55. either way you will be happy.

E55= less weight, better prices, less parts to fail (IE ABC system), less torque managment and lot more aftermarket parts for it.

Imho the E55 has a more modern look to it. As well as the elegance of a 4door sedan.

Good to see ya back! Been a while.

Your E55 is one of the few that makes me not even consider any other car. Stricly done with style and clean.

Thanks to everyone for their opinions I'm leaning towards the E I like the price point and I can always use the extra money towards mods and of course WHEELS since I am such a WHEEL ***** when it comes to cars. The problem with the 65 is not the price because I can afford to buy it the only thing that troubles my mind is the breakdowns and also more complicated car to work with since you can even slide a baby hand in that engine bay.

I like the E cause it has a huge community of ppl always saying good things and making these cars stand out in the AMG family. Time will tell for now I will go look and drive the CL, CLS, and of course the E.

More reliable ??? I've yet to read of a blown V12TT even with the 1200 HP set up

Yet I know they have ABC and the original coils packs where weak, but with all of the issues I read about with the 55's I'm really not sure the V12TT can be worse.

Cheaper to mod, what ??? I'll let this speak for me .... https://mbworld.org/forums/cl55-amg-...-packages.html

Best of all you can get one for much less than a V12......... No way this is true of the V12TT 600.... maybe the V12TT 65, but not the 600.

Most CL600 and S600, MB top line cars, can be had for less than a E55, same years, miles.

I'm not knocking the 55 at all, they are amazing cars, but I think many people have much to learn about the V12TT.

I respect your opinion and I would have to agree. I like the 600 but would want the AMG. How is your 600? how fast do you go with all that work? I guess the only difference between a 600 and a 65 is front rear bumpers and a bit dif interior correct?

Thanks
