Custom E55 Exhaust System Design?
Long time lurker, first time poster. Bought my '05 E55 last summer with 51K miles. Now at 59K and getting the itch to start modding.
I'd like to have a custom exhaust installed that will give flexibility for when I get headers (short, mid or long) later, so it won't have to be redone to a great extent. The car has no mods yet, other than a tune from a local shop.
It needs to pass VA emissions (i.e., primary cats, no CEL).
After reading up a bit here, I thought this might be a decent plan of attack:
[Headers]-[flex pipes]-[race cats]-[3" pipes]-[Eurocharged mufflers]-[AMG tips]
Is 3" piping too aggressive? I'm willing to lose a bit of performance now rather than going with 2.5" piping and having to redo it after the headers are upgraded.
Any advice or other design ideas?
(Yes, I plan on upgrading the IC pump and HE as well)

Can you recommend an exhaust shop in the area, e55amgrocket?
