Exhaust shops use hydraulic crush bends as they are easy to make and convenient to install. The disadvantage especially on a performance car is now the crush bend now represents the smallest diameter on your car's exhaust system, it is the "choke" in overall pipe diameter. Hence the use of mandrels.

But for driving feel (sound, handling), E60 M5 is a lot better.
Indeed, put real snow tires and that car can take any kind of snow condition.
