F.A.T.S. times for the e55?
I searched and am pretty sure no one on here uses a system like this on the e55. In the old AUDIWORLD days we used a system we dubbed FATS. (for advancing the s4)
third gear pull WOT at a low rpm and log time and rpm specifically 4200 and 6500rpm. that way there is no driver skill involved (1/4 mile) and no dyno heartbreak stories etc. you would then look at the log and measure how much time it took to get from 4200-6500rpm.
its no used to compare different cars, but if we can establish a baseline stock time from lets say same rpm points in third gear, its an excellent way to track progress on your mods without having to hit a dyno.
just need to find a way to log as my VAG com obviously doesnt work on this car.
ive postponed buying mods until i can figure something out, because i think a database like this would be really beneficial to really show how mods affect your car and what better place to start then my bone stock 06?

There's so many other variable's to that too. These car's love cold weather so that alone is a big change. I've ran 60-130mph in 6.7,6.9,7.2 with the exact same mods/tune and 45 minutes apart. We pretty much know what tune with what parts make X amount of power give or take a little. A dyno is good for getting a WOT tune dialed in and thats about it honestly. Dyno numbers don't really mean that much to most of us except for a # on a piece of paper or computer screen.

obviously there are a lot of variables. thats why its only good to gauge your own car with mods. it was nice to see how you stacked up. key was flat road, run both ways to make it fair and average it out. then keep track of the temp when you run. trust me, e55 isnt the only car that loves cold weather! my s4 couldnt keep all 4 tires from spinning in 3rd under WOT when it was cold. car was a monster.
i was just thinking that setting up a baseline is a lot more gratifying then relying on the "butt dyno" for small mods. seeing real world result on the money you spent, without having to go to the dyno everytime or to the track.

Without a VBOX this is pointless with our cars since the refresh rate of the OBDII is too slow. I don't know how quick it is on the audi's, but I have seen refresh rates of greater than a second so any accurate measurement is out the door. This is probably why you haven't seen it as a useful measurement.
