Farewell, for now
So it is with a heavy heart that I come to you and say that I've left the AMG family. I came to the conclusion that no matter how much I loved my E63, I needed something that could solve more automotive needs that my family had. So I traded in my 2008 E63 for a 2011 Ford F150 Raptor. As I explained to folks, the AMG is a scalpel, the truck is a Swiss Army knife.
I loved my time with my E. It was awesome for all the reasons you already know. But I just needed more. The Raptor offers much of what the AMG world does, exclusivity, coolness, fun to drive, awesome gas mileage, bad-***-ness and so on, but also can carry a facecord of firewood and travel through 2 feet of snow. I was a truck guy before my E63 and now I feel like I'm home. Perhaps my finances will one day allow for both a utility vehicle and a sports car, perhaps a GT3 RS!
So thanks to all of you that have been part of my life on this board. I didn't always post on here, but I did read much and often. I hope to stay in touch with the local Chicago AMG crew, and maybe even do a resonator delete on the Raptor for some extra rumble courtesy of BENZUOVR!
Thanks again to all of you for all your contributions. I can't wait to see if some dude is going to eat a burrito off a Raptor wheel on the other forum I'm on now. Only time will tell.
Take care and be safe out there,
Todd

Thanks guys. It was a really hard decision, but it had to happen. The Raptor does make up for the loose better than a 2WD F150 might. Thing is mean and people get out of my way!
I will say, it's weird. They electronically limit it to 100mph. Something about wanting to keep people from pushing the limits while off road. Thing pulls like a mother up to 100 and then it's like my foot was lifted off. Much different from the AMG that would pull well past 100.

And to make it worse, in 2011 they added this slick center gauge cluster info center that shows you, among other things, current estimated MPG. It tough watching it flatline on a regular basis. But at least I get to put in Regular instead of Premium.

Hate to see you leave the boards, but I'm sure you will be back.
With the new ride and winter coming up, you might be pulling some AMG's out of the snow !!!
Chicago is brutal in the winter. Enjoy your new ride and I am sure someone shortly will be joining the borads saying how they got this great car in Chicago !!!

I tell ya, the Raptor forum guys are nothing like you all! Much more, um, reserved. I started a thread about kills, after reading about someone killing a Mustang Cobra on here. All I got was lambasted for street racing, doing stuff the truck was never meant for, yada yada yada. Come on, it's a fast frickin' monster. Have fun with it! And yes, I have my recover strap ready for you guys.

Keep in touch! I've toyed with moving from AMG but still hanging tough! (the wifey doesn't like how they break down from time to time.)
Raptor is awesome though! Throw on a S/C and you're golden!
POWER!
