Got my NetStar printout...
Mine says cycle 9/2, does that mean September build second decade?
NetStar did accept burl wood but I'm thinking of switching back to birdseye. Price is still $777777.
This waiting is killing me!

A matter of personal taste, of course, but I'd stick with the burl walnut. I have the bidseye maple now and to me it looks like black plastic unless there's direct sunlight on it.
The contrast of the charcoal/black against the walnut looks much more rich and provides additional depth IMO.

I had a 2000 Silver/Charcoal E55 and the only thing appearance wise I did not like was the black Birdeye Maple wood trim. I agree, it looks like black plastic, and offers no contrast.

You can see pics of several interiors with the burl/charcoal combo. I love it, and also like the burl shift plate vs. the aluminum shiftplate that comes with the birdseye trim. It all comes down to personal taste, get what you love.

Just passing this along. MB Sugarland in Texas has a new E55 available. Its Tectite with only the CD changer. They are a new dealership and this was a speculative model. They also had the elusive SL55 but I think it sold already.

I love the Black Birdseye - for me it looks more sporty especially in an AMG car. The Burl is elegant but somewhat pretentious and showy. I had Burl on my E430 with Black interior and to me it looked nice but did not match. Burl is better on light colored interiors.
Brown wood with a Black interior is like wearing a brown belt and shoes with a black Suit. Not really GQ!
