There is no way that there is 16K in damages there, perhaps if the dealer was the one doing the estimate and they are raping you with the parts. $10K TOPS.. $8K would be my guess but I'm sure that even with $5K-$6K you should be able to put it good as new.

Because I can't make out clearly but I see decals on his window for getting on post so I'm curious if he's military. I have USAA so I'd be annoyed if they low balled him like that. I doubt they would considering the black book value they gave me with more miles was just shy of 30k.

USAA is great....I have had nothing but very positive experiences with them (all of which are at sad times)....

yes i am military, but i have Farmers. my parents have been with them forever, so back when i started driving i just followed suit. this is my first accident, and its not a very enjoyable experience.

the original quote was about 9k without pulling anything apart, then they lifted the hood and everything between the bumper and engine was smashed. or should i say "not perfect."

I agree that it can be fixed for much less, my local shop here in NH (accident was in delware, where i had no idea where to take it) said that they could do it for around 10k out the door. and thats a high sided estimate.
but the insurance company said there was "too much damage to even consider another shops opinion." so now im battling for at least what i payed for it.

I'm a commercial insurance broker & USAA is probably THE BEST general consumer insurance company in the country. I wish I could get it myself, but last time I checked you must be in the military or directly related to someone that is.

Wow!!! R32sSayBwaaa, I was really enjoying reading the E55 experience you were having. I'm sorry this happened to you. Not sure if I missed it, but did you finance this car? If you did finance the car did you have GAP INSURANCE?
"Has your car been modified from its factory state?" Is always an underwriting question insurance companies ask. I have modified most of my cars & I always say no. Problem with that is you don't get the value for the mods if something happens. Not really sure what can happen if you do admit to the mods, never done that or had to deal with it.

Bargain with the adjuster... Lie and say you took it to a body shop and they said 10- 12k...with all the people parting out cars on here... You will pay way less then 12k for fix

.. My m3 had a similar hit which came to about 14k... And that was with progressive (by the way they will only pay for aftermarkets parts unless unavailable)... If your insurance is quoting dealer part prices.. It adds up quickly

Yes its financed, but only about half of it. not sure if i have gap insurance, but it doesnt matter, their low ball is still above what i have financed. They asked if it was modified and i said no, but when i spoke to the shop that was gong to fix it (before they determined totaled) they said they could replace any of the aftermarket stuff as long as its close to the cost of the OEM parts.

Gotcha. I thought you were leading up to a story about a bad USAA experience. I also have USAA.
