Took it in for trunk latch problem. Next thing you know there's an M275 on the the engine dolly.

Standard dealer tactics.

haters crazy
It might be a problem if you have Hef working on it. Call speed driven and have them ship you some bigger turbos while you have everything out lol

Ohh no your engine fell off???? Come on spill the beans...... The engine is out for new turbos along with the tranny to be built for the new power??? New catless exhaust why your at it or was it just in the way??? Knowing you and all the jokes these pics could be 3 weeks old and the car is almost put back together. Either way I hope it was by choice or covered with a warranty. It doesn't look like an expense people want to be caught with off guard.

Looks like the engines come out pretty easily. I would be all over that thing and have Speedriven shipping parts already lol.

Good point but most techs wouldn't even of up sold the mounts knowing they would have to pull the engine. Doesn't look like the 2 hour job on a E55 but still looks pretty simple and I love when you can drop the crossmember and engine together on a table. Makes life a lot easier.

Just had a friend call me from MIR at the World Cup Finals (import vs domestic race) He said the cars are setting records and personal best's run after run. Some of the guys in the top classes that lost are bracket racing in the 2nd chance race now. The last race was a 6.55 dial in vs a 6.80 dial (1/4 mile that is). Pretty awesome to see 2 6 second car's bracket racing well over 200mph.

Lets get a list of the people coming to this started so we know what kind of turn out we will be having. Obviously my car isn't ready but ill be bringing a couple generators and fans for those that will want to cool the cars down to get everything they can out of them. Ill also bring a jack and electric impact for people who need to swap over to different tires. I'm going to race my work truck I believe (99 2500 cummins with a few mods). Hopefully the weather stays good and we set some personal bet and a few records while we're at it.

As for the SL.... it really went in for a trunk latch and ball joint. Tech noticed minor leak in engine mounts, and tranny mount was sagging a tiny bit.

on the R230 V12, step ONE in the manual says "Remove Engine" LOL....so that's why it was pulled. He tried to do it without removal, but it was impossible on this chassis. Once it was out, my tech saw the tranny pump had a small leak. So, with only 3 days left on my warranty when I dropped it off, I was happy to see everything was covered, minus my deductible and tranny fluid and filter. Bill was over $5000.00 and that didn't include the latch and ball joint, I don't think.

Good news is, the car is perfect. After everything was ripped apart and put back together, it never threw 1 code. Not one. Intercooler system seems have been bled correctly, and all is good in the SL600's world.

The bad news is I'm now driving without a net. Suffice to say that seeing what would have been my out of pocket expense, has given me pause to the way I think when I fire up the mighty V12 now. The car showed ZERO symptoms other than an intermittently working trunk closer, and small noise from the front end that was not 100% reproducible.

Anyway, I'm still hoping to show at MIR....just not sure if I'll be just a spectator or not.

Realizing that Ahmad is oversees, is there anyone that is coordinating this thing from down that way? If I make the trip, I'll be coming from about 450 miles away, and I just want to have a point of contact (via cell phone, etc.) before I get on the road. I would likely leave on Friday afternoon and get down there Friday night. PM me as appropriate or necessary. Thanks!

I can give you my contact info. Its pretty easy as far as the track day goes. Usually they will get your payment ($100) at the white office on the right side before you get thru the gate. They will give you a sticker that has a number and you put that sticker in the top center of your window then your ready to race.

What info do you need? Any track related info can be answered by Jason Miller by calling MIR.
