Official MIR Mercedes Shootout Thread 11/11/12
Standard dealer tactics.
Come on spill the beans...... The engine is out for new turbos along with the tranny to be built for the new power??? New catless exhaust why your at it or was it just in the way??? Knowing you and all the jokes these pics could be 3 weeks old and the car is almost put back together. Either way I hope it was by choice or covered with a warranty. It doesn't look like an expense people want to be caught with off guard.

). Hopefully the weather stays good and we set some personal bet and a few records while we're at it.
on the R230 V12, step ONE in the manual says "Remove Engine" LOL....so that's why it was pulled. He tried to do it without removal, but it was impossible on this chassis. Once it was out, my tech saw the tranny pump had a small leak. So, with only 3 days left on my warranty when I dropped it off, I was happy to see everything was covered, minus my deductible and tranny fluid and filter. Bill was over $5000.00 and that didn't include the latch and ball joint, I don't think.
Good news is, the car is perfect. After everything was ripped apart and put back together, it never threw 1 code. Not one. Intercooler system seems have been bled correctly, and all is good in the SL600's world.
The bad news is I'm now driving without a net. Suffice to say that seeing what would have been my out of pocket expense, has given me pause to the way I think when I fire up the mighty V12 now. The car showed ZERO symptoms other than an intermittently working trunk closer, and small noise from the front end that was not 100% reproducible.
Anyway, I'm still hoping to show at MIR....just not sure if I'll be just a spectator or not.
