Oem Sirius Sat install

Picked up the oem unit, looking to add Sat to my car. To my understanding late model e55's were pre-wired? But guess I am wrong...

Whats need to install this bad boy? Went through the previous threads, cant seem to find something to do a full installation?

Only plug I see in the trunk, is this guy here...
Its a 4 prong female connector, does look like some audio plug...

Any info what be great!

It is really easy to do. I did a small write up on it a few years ago. You will find a link to the factory install directions there also.

You are prewired, That's the plug. then you get a sirius microdot antenna and plug it into the SDAR box along with that plug, you will also need to include the SDAR in the MOST ring but that's easy since the adapter/closeout is already in the CTEL bay. The job can literally be done in less than 20 mins

Doesnt sound anywhere near the same quality. Aux is kind of so-so but better than a FM Modulator

The plug does connect to the sat unit, is there some sort of adapter needed?

Sadly....mid '05 and '06 cars are not pre-wired (on the MOST Ring), it is quite an undertaking to add Sirius on these model years. I looked into this on my '06 recently and have put this install on pause for the time being due to the effort required and little documentation.

Tony, I wouldn't bother. Get a Mobridge unit like I did. then you can stream music off your Iphone over bluetooth. It's really easy to install, but you do lose your CD changer. I have the ABT2010 model listed here
http://www.mobridge.us/products/most-bluetooth-ipod-aux

if you really want sat. radio, they have an XM radio version that you can run alongside the bluetooth/iphone module

X2 the last of the e55's were not pre wired. I have a early 05 and luckily it was prewired. I installed all of the parts into my car from the truck, nothing in the car. I did install the antenna on top of the truck for the factory look. drilling a hole in the trunk was less than exciting.... But its done and I use my sirius radio every time I drive. It took me about 2 hours going slow and careful as the truck panels have to come out and drilling the hole in the trunk.

hopefully you used a smaller painted antenna receiver?

Yes, All oem parts, the trunk actually has a spot specifically made for that antenna. It is the small OEM one. It was ordered with the correct paint color from benz. No shortcuts here. I read plenty of problems with antenna interference with the deck lid installs.

The large OEM is well, hideous. But since they have the new style which is painted to match the car and 1/10 the size. Doesn't bother me a bit.

Guy complain about this antenna still but put hideous other parts on their cars?
Guess it's up to the owners likes or dislikes.

            Factory Satellite Install

Hey guys. New to the forum and having a bit of trouble with the Sirius factory install. I was hoping someone could enlighten me.

I installed a 04 Sirius unit with splitter and antenna in my 2006. I connected the 4 pin 2 optic connector and the splitter came to me with both white & blue connected to unit so I assume that the antenna hooked up to the splittler. I have two connecter hanging near the unit that are white and blue with foam wrapped on them.

1 - Are these used with the sirius?

My second hurddle is the comand unit says No Satellite radio when I press the Sat button.

2 - Do I have to program the comand to see/recognize the sirius module?

If anyone could actually explain in detail the correct wiring install so I can make sure I hooked it up correctly that would be awesome.

I'm also considering the factory phone bluetooth setup for the iphone. Any input or advice on factory or aftermarket? I'm looking to take full advantage of the cars accessories.

            Chris..

Make sure your antenna connection is snug, the mercedes sat unit has its own antenna connection which is incompatible with a pioneer antenna. YOu would have to modify it to accept a pionner antenna.

There is a write up here on how to connect an I-Phone to OEM phone system.

You do not have to program the command to receive a satellite module.
Are you sure your prewired. I dont think mentioned going into the trunk to connect the satellite unit to the audio gateway?

I modified a Sirius sat antenna to fit splitter. 3M Taped on the trunk with 3" of space off rear glass.

I don't have any components for bluetooth/phone system. Shopping that soon.

Prewired yes but connections are questioned. {4pin/2 optic is plugged in and white and blue antenna w/foam wrap are just hanging near module. Splitter is plugged into white and blue on module and antenna is plugged into splitter.

            Audio gateway??

Links to threads would be greatly appreciated.... Searched so much eye ***** want to pop..

Audio gateway requires the most work. if you are prewired you will have to remove rear trunk panel wayyyyy in the back of the trunk and find the yellow connector(s), unplug it and join the orange connector in between.
Once this is done you will be able to see your Sirius Unit on the Command.

This is a great post and I've installed a used OEM Sirius unit in my 2005 E320. My question is the fiber optic connector into the MOST ring. How are the fiber optic connectors used? Do you "pull" the cable out of the connector or do you open the connector up some how to insert the cable? I don't want to damage any of it and this is the first time I've used fiber optic. Thanks.
