Awesome prices, is this easier to install then a lower pulley and which is more reliable?

Thanks

Good question, Had to take out the radiator to get my IR impact gun on the crank bolt. I am seriously considering just buying the S/C pully since I am about due for a new clutch anyway and put the lower half back to stock. I was thinking 180 but went 172 to be safe. Seriously looking forward to this anwsers from the experts.

180 + Smaller S/C pulley = 190 effecive crank pulley size
172 + Smaller S/C pulley = 182 effective crank pulley size

I have shorti headers to put on and do not want to mess with the fuel rail. Will I have problems running lean if I run the 172 with the S/C pully? I have not tracked a car in a couple decades but I am starting to get that "Pit in my stomch" telling me I should try a pull or two. I would be thrilled with anything sub 12. We have a Dyno here in Philly where I can get it perfectly set up. Can't believe I am considering this. Last car I built was a 1969 Chevell SS. 350 boared 60 over with 4 bolt mains ect. My how times have changed.

you could get the 550cc injectors. some people will say a 180mm crank pulley does need and some may say they dont need bigger injectors.

Shardul, IF I have a kleeman 168mm pulley the boost is raised 3psi, would adding the smaller SC pulley add another 2psi on top ? whats with the shim count ? I always read abput ppl saying there always having to check to add more doesnt sound good. just wanna install and no b worried !

Running lean while maxed out up top scares the crap out of me. If I smoke a piston it isn’t like I can go to the speed shop and get one off the shelf. I want a reliable racer; if that makes any sense. IMHO the motor is set up from stock to handle more, and it is certainly dummied down. My goal is to have it set-up for what it should have been. I think it should have come stock with 550-575hp and 575-590 tqs at the crank. They could have dialed that in and the motor would have been just as reliable as its stock offering. A little more boost, better flowing exhaust and a better initial tune would have put out those numbers no problem. If I can pull under 12, I am a happy guy. My Chevelle was a beast back in the day with almost no car being able to run with it, (Back in the early 80s'. That car ran low 12s'. also got 5-6mpg and ran 101 octane. Boy have times changed.

Would be nice knowing prior to purchase the set-up. Think I am best staying where I am and getting the headers on this weekend. I will see where to go from there.

yes, then if you feel you want to mod a bit more then you can add the smaller pulley.
