New V10 M5 Spy Pics
****note that the tail lights are the same as an old a Kia Sephia!!!!
2) Exhaust pipes are waaay too wimpy for this car.
3) Interior on this car is almost as ugly as the rear.
4) Front end is fine IMO.
5) No question that the real beauty is under the hood.
I'm happy to defend the AMG honour against "the dark side", but I am seriously hoping that it turns out to be half as good as the hype for two reasons.
1. If it turns out that good, I'll buy one.
2. It raises the bar for AMG.

For performance cars it is not always just the look it is the performance that makes you smile.

sf49ers79, this M5 is due in 2004 as a 2005 model.
In Aust a reasonable spec 745i is 250K on road, speaking to a friend in the trade yesterday, they are worth 165K wholesale second hand, if you can get a buyer.
Many of the BMW faithful (myself included) are abandoning ship over this vehicle. Maybe BMW can attract that unknown market segment they're trying to reach with this design, but in the process they'll leave many BMW fans behind. I'll be very surprised if 5 series sales don't plumet by 2005. (they'll be strong at first cause the car is new)
Even my BMW salesperson tells me he see rough times ahead. Expect quick mid-life re-designs.
There are all out wars raging on the BMW roadfly website every day.

The E55 AMG has everything I'm looking for in a sport sedan... except a Bavarian Roundel.
It is amazing the assumptions people will make. BMW has increased production over last year as did MB. This does not men that the 7 series outsold the S class. I would agree that they are giving the 7 series away with special finance packages, large discounts etc. Resale on the 7 is going toshock some owners.

Through June of this year BMW has sold 9,900 (down 800 units from year ago) 7 series while MB has sold 10,900 (up 900 units from year ago) S-class
These numbers are approximate numbers but very very close.
FWIW: In the US in 2002 the 7 series outsold the S-class 22,000 to 21,120

This just reinforces one of the stories in the latest issue of CAR magazine. The theme was actually the lack of design excellence of the Porsche Cayenne. The argument was that the car is selling well in the states so the design must be good, but the conclusion was that US buyers are so influenced by marketing and image they don't even know what a good car is!
Many people complain about the look of the Bangle designs but BMW sales have hit an all time high and they sell more cars than Mercedes does every year in the US.
It doesn't matter, beauty is in the eye of the beholder. But to most eyes, the 7 & 5 are UGLY. I have to admit that the 7 has grown on me some, especially in black. But I still don't like the new 5 at all.
1) Rear end is really ugly...I haven't yet found anyone who likes it.

2)I agree...could do with some THICK tail pipes, but without a doubt a nice V10 sound should still come out of them.
3)The interior is alright, could of been worse aka 7-series.
4)I disagree, the front needs sorting.
5)I agree.
Cheers.

For one, I haven't figured out why people are fascinated with the Cayenne since to me it's ugly, and while it's marketed as a "sports SUV", it really doesn't fulfill either part of that descriptor very well considering the price tag.
As for masses of people being suckered in by advertising blitzes, there's just no question that's a cultural phenomenon invented in the USA.
Example:
How many women really look good in hip hugger pants and midriff shirts (especially considering that 61% of Americans are overweight)? But they're a wardrobe staple here.
Another:
Did anyone really believe that putting pulsating electrodes on your arms or abs would build muscle? (It doesn't, in case anyone was still curious, and those devices are disappearing due to false claims). But they sold thousands and thousands of those devices.
Yes those pics have been posted before, but here are new pics of the new 5 Series and some Spy photo of the new M5 for everyone to see (spy pics though).

If any of you guys have time to read the guy’s story who took the pics of the new M5 do so, I really thought he was just being full of it, but in the end....you'll see.
***Notice the GIGANTIC rear Disk Breaks. Geeez, it's almost as big as the entire wheel! that only spells one thing....mind blowing HP's to make that car stop.
