The run doesn't count but the time stands. Red lighting doesnt change anything on a test and tune day. The car ran 11.6; faster than the ZR1. I don't think the vette owner is walking away happy knowing he beat a quicker car only because of a red light. I'll take the 11.6 slip with the red light any day of the week.

I agree with you about the tunes. I said nothing about Renntech producing dyno queens with high peak numbers. I said they make fast cars, which they do.

I bet the owner of that car will be more than happy to let anyone scour over it at the track. There's enough guys in South Florida on this forum who have had the chance.

Those times are very believable...with my EC mail order tune and 172 pulley I went 11.55 and 11.57 on DR's

A Merc
RT was a 168 pulley supposedly, secondly EC tune is much more aggressive than a RT tune
But at the end of the day who knows

RT also produces a 178mm pulley.

I think its 100% possible. Whats the weight of the car? That also plays a big factor and it was on drag radials so i don't see whats so hard to believe. The whine can be from the intake that's on the car. My car whined louder with a 175 and custom intake than it did with a different custom intake and a 195

It's going to need some extra air coming in to keep it happy this time around. Hopefully someone can get a whipple kit ready.......

Good times for 168.

I pulled 12.08 @ 119 with 1.99 60' with UPD pulley, EC box tune, PLM HE and street tires (19 inch CLS wheels) at 42PSI. Mild pullies FTW.

Idk if it's because of the UPD blower pulley or because of my removed underhood insulation but my car sounds like that. Loud whine outside. Love it.

Okay guys, I've been good friends with Steve for awile now and I've seen that car run several times. I was even offered the chance to drive it down the track, and ran out of time before I had a chance. It has only a 168 pulley and tune. No intake, no headers, nothing else.
Down here in South Florida, if we get decent weather with low humidity, DRs will hook up and you can put down a decent time. Steve is also a great driver and has an enormous amount of seat time and for those that race, you know what it takes to launch these cars. It's not that easy.
But, 11.6 is very possible with a pulley and tune. I don't understand why every one tries to piece apart Steve's (SGC) runs. The simple fact is that Steve runs the sh*t out of these cars. Isn't that what we are here for? To run these cars and share info, right? Steve didn't post that vid and it's an old one at that. Just saying.
It's funny how no one said anything when a newbie runs 11.x stock on street tires. I've got over 80 runs stock and couldn't come close to 11 even with DRs. Again, just saying.
Besides, I have video some where (not sure which camera) of Steve's cars to show that there is NO nitrous. These where for our own amusement, since people think that nitrous was used on all his cars. Little do they know.
Guys, I'm not here to start a war. I learned everything I know about my car here on MBWorld. It's a shame that the last couple of years people only want to disect others times and accomplishments. It wasn't like that before. I'm not a machanic, but I will help anyone that needs it as long as I can. If I can't I will do my best to find out. But that's just me. And those that know me personally, know that I ain't about no bullsh*t!
Now, back to the original topic. CONGRATS Steve! (even though I was there)

Thanks for posting Elliott. I was at the track that night as well. Our wives work together, so I usually chew Steve's ear off about his cars every chance I get. I think that if 99% of the haters met Steve, they would quickly change their opinions of him. The guy is as humble as they come and loves to talk cars. As soon as "Renntech" is thrown out there, people become defensive and start their nos theories. Steve loves Renntech, I probably would too if my pockets were that deep.
It's too bad he doesn't come on here anymore because of all the bull****. He is a true gear head that loves to run.

Just wait until his E63 biturbo runs 10's on stock tires this winter with only an ECU tune. He's about one tenth of a second away right now and we are in 90 degree weather with 100% humidity.

You are correct sir! Steve is a stand up guy. He helps any one and everyone when ever and where ever. He's a good guy that you would want on your side.

I remember back when I have the Renntech tune and RT 168 pulley, with the 18" BFG DR I ran the best of 11.8@ 119mph during the summer. So 11.6 in the cool weather is do-able. I regretted that I didn't try that same combo in the colder weather. I got bitten by the go fast bug so I went crazy with mods.

What does that matter? The clock starts as soon as he moves, the timing lights are only for reaction time which is not taken into consideration on the 1/4 mile times.

I'm on the fence on the times....he did better than most with barely any mods? Hmmmm...

As stated above,SGC has been around these cars for years and really knows how to drive them..When I had my 03 back in 06 he had one with same combo and was running the same numbers (times can be found on Dragtimes)..I also had a similar combo just with an ASP pulley and at PBIR (then Moroso) was running 11.70 on DR's..Don't be so quick to discredit this run as it very doable..

First off... Who cares? Since when does running an 11.6 warrant someone else starting a thread? Haven't people run close to that with a stock E55??

Secondly, SGC and Rt have a history of not disclosing all their mods. not saying that's the case here though but I can see why many would be skeptical of anything out of them

Same exact car can run completely different times at different tracks, weather, etc. OP had a good run, no hate here, congrats.

Seems about right to me. Had my car running 11.9s on streets with a tune and shorties. With some DRs I would have seen mid 11s easily.

Its funny to read the comments on the you tube site where idiots say "The Vette would have created the Merc had it not red lit". Did they even look at the ET's?
