Built Transmission

Hey guys.....I'm posting in the W211 becasue everyone knows the W220 section is slow. I have a question......Does anyone know where I can get me transmission rebuilt to hold the power I have.....also looking at doing either the Weistec blower kit, or the Speedriven kit when that becomes available. Just looking to get ideas from all of you before I move forward with this project.

Does anyone have numbers from the what Weistec kit puts down on our engines? Seems that they have done a lot of testing with the 63's and not a whole lot with our platform. Thanks in advance.

I read that about Speedriven, but I didn't think it was for the 722.6 trans. I will have to look in to that.

Shardul, who is this Southern Hotrod Transmission?? Have they done built transmissions for AMG's?

Thanks you guys, for all the info. This is what I'm talking about. The W220 section is dead for performance. You guys know where it's at. Thanks again.

I've run a southern hot rod Trans for years. I also installed a paramount performance Trans for a friend and was good too. Is your current transmission bad? I have also tested IPT valve body and torque converter

I think so, my car goes into limp mode whenever I go over half throttle. No noise or grinding, just feels like the throttle won't go over half. It just recently started doing this. If you go WOT it will go full throttle for like 2-3 sec, then it will chop the throttle to less than half.

Do you get a CEL when the car goes into limp mode?

CEL has been on. I think it's because of the 82mm TB I have a CEL. The car runs just fine, idles fine and even under WOT it runs great......just the limp mode.

No offense but I wouldn't consider purchasing a transmission before you have any idea of what's actually wrong. Your problem might be relatively cheap and easy to fix.

Yes, I completely agree with you. I will get the codes read, and see if there is anything else before I o down that road. Mainly I wanted to know if there were people out there that did do aftermarket work on AMG Transmissions.

I had someone pm me thinking it was m intercooler pump. I don't believe it to be the pump, but I will check it.

Yup.. could be bad i/c pump..... codes are your friend. MB STAR DAS is your BEST Friend

I would invest in a good knock-off. GL.

A china/eBay one about $500. Might last a year before it craps out. A good German one about $2500+. A real mb one, $27,000! You can also go the snap-on way and that would be $1000+ for a nice used one. The mb style ones work best though.

I agree with running codes though. Why buy a trans if it's only a $100 conductor plate

Btw I've been running a builder bill/paramount trans for 4 years and it holds up to my abuse but it down shifts like sh** when coming to a stop. I may put in brown top soloniods to soften the down shifts.
