Twin dbw throttle system
As you may have noticed I've started to quite a few mods to the old waggon , currently in progress a full brake up grade and custom cooling upgrade . Now sorting out the air intake side of things . I asked on another post about using twin throttle bodies but got no reply so asked around and have found a guy who can make me a custom control modual to run two dbw tb from one out put . The second throttle body who not use the tps , only the electronic motor that opens the throttle butterfly . He should have it made for me next week and I'm going to leave the original one attached to my car and hopefully the second tb should open in sync with it and no cel .
If it works going to fabricate a new intake using the two tb's drawing the air in through brabus style bonnet vents . Like this
Thoughts any body ? Use two 72 mm tb's ? Any advantage going any bigger ?

two throttle bodies would be good, but i don't know if it would be that beneficial seeing as how you can only open the snout on the supercharger so much? i know on stock cars the throttle body is the biggest choke for airflow, once you address that the next thing inline would be the supercharger snout. i know guys have fabricated off the stock one for the 90mm bbk set up, but id imagine that about it. unless you were up to having a supercharger snout customer made for your needs. if so then i think it might be worth while.

Dang, you got a gnarly wagon there.
I was going to do the dual throttle body on my car too, but due to work and life in general I just don't have time. But from what little research I gather, you can just use a sprintbooster and tap into the wire #1 and #4 for the second throttle body. This is just strictly speculation on my part, so good luck!!

Yes I agree , now trying to find one to modify / take pattern from , or to cut the mounting flange off so I can get a bigger one fabricated . Still unsure about throttle body size , I can get new 82 mm bosch bodies from Germany for £260 each .
Going to take my second hand hood in to have the vents cut in this week .
On wards and upwards ....

The filter box will be quite easy to make , can get a filter 50% bigger in as well . The air will enter the top of the filter directly, out of the corner of the box into a throttle body . Angled to wards the inlet of the supercharger .

So far so good ! My budy built the electronic box , plug and play . In fact he went one better , he picked up the engine rpm signal and if I want to can have the second throttle body open at any given rpm , so it would use one tb say upto 2500 rpm then open the second one ( may give better throttle response in the lower rev range)
Two 72 mm throttle bodies would give me throttle area of 81 cm2 , the same as a 105 mm single body . Twin 82 mm bodies would give a intake area of 100cm2 and that may be a bit over the top . Looking at the inlet snout on the super charger I think it could be modified to allow max 100cm2 inlet . Thoughts and advise please ?
Any one have a spate intake snout they would sell ?
Marc

Tbh time is some thing I have way too much of
I think the main advantage will come from drawing the air direct into the air filters from the high pressure zone on the hood , and having very short air intakes rather than feeding from the front of the car . I have been looking at changing the heat exchanger in the charger intake for a more effeciant desighn and may look that when I pull the super charger .
From personal exsperiance good reliable hp comes from good cold air , lowering intake temps always seem to be the key to reliable consistent power

There is a guy on the w203amg who hooked up two throttle bodies. IIRC, he gained a much faster throttle response - I believe he cited the SC snout being his new largest restriction. Ya should go look for his thread!
