Primary Cat Delete
Hi Everyone!

Has anyone deleted the primary cats with stock headers.

I am thinking of doing it but not sure if its a good idea.

Appreciate all advice and opinions.

2008 Mercedes Benz E63
I did on my CL55 and it makes the car sound like it has an exhaust leak. Its quite annoying.

How did you do it. Did you replace the cats with straight pipes.

2008 Mercedes Benz E63
No. They collapsed and fell in to the secondaries. I had to cut the top off the secondaries and hole saw out the material. It was a huge *****, and now my car sounds like it has a big exhaust leak under partial throttle, stinks, and has a rough idle.

My next step will be to replace the primary cats with a straight pipe. My rear 02 are ignored.

I was thinking about this today as I was tampering with mine a little more. I think straight pipes might be the fix. I think that hollow bulb (where the cat was) could be causing some echoing or something i.e. the exhaust leak sound.

People usually only delete the primary cats because they fail and cost $5,000 for new OEM ones.

I am thinking of deleting the primary cats to get some more power.

Just wanted to check if someone had already done that on an E63 and if I could get some advice and suggestions.

Just put on Kleeman Headers.. you lose the primaries anyway. Sound is good!
