is there a way to reset tranny adaptation without star?

is there a way to reset tranny adaptation without star?
I'm not talking about the sneaky reset that resets throttle mapping in the ecu tune.I need to have my car readapt the 3rd gear upshift.

I thought about unplugging the ecu and TCU and then trying to start car with no tcu .not startall the way just 2 clicks for the car to freak out and maybe have it reset itself when I plug it back in.
