Getaway In Stockholm

In most of Europe traffic violations can only be prosecuted if the driver can be positively identified. Matters not if the vehicle is identified via the license plate.

In Germany there was (past tense) the Turbo Rider and still is the Ghost Rider.

And if you want put something really exciting between your legs . . .

I have spent a lot of time driving in Europe , France , Germany , Belgium and Denmark .
The French police hate motorists and stop you for fun and issue on the spot fines , the German police are great and most of the traffic cops seem to be real petrol heads .
Denmark is the strangest place to drive a fast expensive car , they have I think over 100% import duty on cars and asses the value on the new price . If I wanted to import my car to dk the duty is on the new price not second hand value so the import cost would be the price of the new car plus extras plus purchase tax at 25 % . I parked my amg out side Arhuse station to return to a crowd of around 40 people taking photos of it can you believe they had never seen a genuin Amg in Denmark before !

Never been in Denmark, but spend about 6 months each year in Germany and you are absolutely right about the German Polizei. They are all very cool guys and gals. We get stopped from time to time because we have no front license plate (Florida only issues 1). The last time we were stopped the kindercop (he could not have been more than 25) asked if he could drive it some time. I gave him our address in Germany and I fully expect he will stop by one day. Our next door neighbor is with what would be considered the German the equivalent of the FBI. Also a total motorhead. When he drives the beast, local speed limits have no meaning whatsoever.

It all started with "Rendezvous" circa 1976. The absolute classic to this day. Just the sound alone of the 12 cylinder 275 V12 with six Webbers is unforgettable.

Also check out "The Sound Of Speed" by Bruce Kessler. Circa 1958 with Lance Revenlow and the Formula Libre Scarab. ( In my avatar, that's Bruce driving my BT6 Brabham around the outside of Lothar Motchenbacher's Lotus 22A at Riverside in 1963).
