Need Help and as much input as possible. thanks in advance
I test drove an 04 e55 yesterday and fell inlove with the car...
I'm thinking of buying it but am weary about the price. Frankly, it was a few thousand less than any other e55 for sale that i've been seeing. price seems too good to be true. I asked the guy (it's from a used car sales company by the way) whether or not maintenance has been done since the car is at 103,000 miles..His answer to me was that no check engine lights are on so no need. (i know i know, not a good start)
Interior and exterior look great, and The car drives great, only thing i noticed was that the ac lost it's cold somewhere in the middle of me driving it and later came back at the end. I asked my buddy and he thinks it might be the ac condensor.
My questions:
1. What type of service should the car have gotten by now. (i.e. fluids, belts, replacements, bearings, etc. etc. etc.) So that way i know what to ask when i come back.
(i'm still planning to take it to a benz dealer before purchase to have the entire thing looked)
2. What things should i expect to have replaced also? keep hearing about the johnson pump.
3. How's maintenance on these things? aside from oil changes, anything else that's a yearly duty? average mpg?
4. Is there anything that is known to go bad after a certain number of miles etc. ?
5. it's going to be a daily driver for me so is there anything i should change outright to make it more reliable, etc.
6. What's the largest size rims i can put on here without it rubbing or affecting the suspension. I want to keep the car stock height.
7. Anything else that i missed please don't hesitate to educate me about. I've never owned an amg before and am worried i might regret the purchase due to unforseen future problems.
any and all help is greatly appreciated.

These cars are very robust. the electronic gadgets that come with the car make it unreliable. The main thing you want to check is the compression, pay close attention to #8.

Do a PPI and 100K miles should be OK. You will need to change few things such as spark plugs, air filter, AC recharge, tranny service, flush fluids and change the V belts and SC belt. If you buy it low price, you will have some budget to do maintenance. What color and price to make you feel to cheap to be true ?
