I agree wildwood and all the after market wheel manufactures use alloy for bells . But I when I was looking for new bells the likes of brabus , and few others strongly recommended not to use alloy due to the weight of the car and the load it puts on the mounting points of the rotor to bell.

Yes that make sense...

Here is some Braking Tidbits...so yes the larger Rotor does increase the effective radius of the clamping force by a whopping 6.6% (14" to 15") or so?...with all else equal Right?

Same Pads, same calipers, same car!...is it worth $1900 to to you?

No longer stock '06 E55, A3 3.2 Quattro, LRD4 HSE, R107 280SL
Don't think caliper weight nearly as important as disc weight... the rotational mass amplifies the gyroscopic forces big time. A static caliper is unwanted unsprung mass but it isn't spinning.

I think they could get this setup right with oversized pads... otherwise I don't get it ... oh and yes it needs to be about 900$ cheaper

Even with over sized pads the rotors and pads will wear out uneven over time due to the pistons not able to applied even pressure on the pads.

$1,900 for two front rotors? They do realize that E55's came out in 2003 and whoever is willing to pay that is most likely drunk at the time of purchase?

Brembo doesn't know how to engineer large multi-piece brake discs and that's why they use lightweight hats on their GT kits.

I'm only talking from exsperiance after talking to quite a few manufactures , alcon included . Main reason was given as the weight of the car and would only produce the bells from a cast or from stainless steel . Tbh I always assumed the brabus bells would be alloy and was surprised to see they were machined cast iron .

Hello All,

I am new to this site, i have a 2006 E55 that will need front rotors soon. The dealer said about 3,500 to replace. Is there anyone that sells aftermarket rotors for these cars?

Thanks,

Matt

Your dealer is either smoking crack, ripping you off really badly, or confusing your E55 with an E63 (and still making an absurd profit)

Parts.com has OEM front rotors for $104.40 each
The E63 rotors are listed on parts.com for $756 each
