My E63 AMG has made me a degenerate....more than usual.

So, I have been driving my E63 AMG more than usual lately, and am fairly certain that it is making me into more of a traffic deviant than usual, and generally made me a social degenerate.

Why, you ask? Because every time I start the car, even after all these years, I just want to mash the gas pedal at every light and smoke the tires as I blast off cackling loudly and leaving in a cloud of vaporized Bridgestones.

Driving down the street I have suddenly become 'Johnny Assbag', and look at other cars and think to myself, 'Damn...it must suck to not have an AMG,' and then smile and grab the aluminum shift paddle and click down twice before flooring the gas and listening to the 6.2 liter engine roar and propel me forward with an almost jet engine like force. Then as I whooosh past the slower traffic I spot a cloverleaf series of ramps and clamp onto the huge 6-piston brakes and feel the front of my brain press against my skull before whipping up the ramps with glee.

Watching the fuel gauge fall like a sky diver from 10,000 feet, I wonder why I did not buy one of these earlier. As my first AMG car, I am now spoiled. Whenever I try to get into a car without Keyless Go I am confused and upset that I have to actually get the key out of my pocket to get in or start it. I wonder how people live without the 3 position Air Matic suspension and torque of one of the finest hand build engines ever to exist. I almost refuse to ride in car without the fine dark wood trim, suede headliner and pillars, and heated and cooled seats. Then, most damaging of all, it has me wanting more AMG!! So much so that I am now in the market for a CLK63 AMG Black Series to match. I am a sick, sick, man....and I don't want to get better if AMG is the only illness I have. This is a kind of crazy I can deal with....and embrace. What a fantastic and amazing car. I have no desire to ever sell it, and will probably drive it until it has 1,000,000 miles or more.

I know!! They showed me that on a new SL63 AMG that the dealer had in when I was there for service a few weeks ago, and thought that was pretty wicked. Of course, the clear top that suddenly becomes opaque at the push of a button is pretty bad *** too.

Thanks! I think the surprise is that I have had the car for a few years now, and have piled on about 20,000 miles PER YEAR, and still love it. Starting it in the garage in the morning and hearing that growl is just awesome.

I feel the exact same way. Even leaving for work at 3 in the morning lol do you have an exhaust on your car? I do. It gathers lots of complaints from neighbors even when driven gingerly.

I don't have one on the E63....yet. The car still has warranty until next June or 86,000 miles. Then all bets are off!!

My neighbors already talk about how my NSX, which has an aftermarket exhaust, wakes them up. So they will really love me when the E63 has one too. LOL!! Which exhaust do you have?

Great post! Truly AMG's have turned me into Dr. Jekly and Mr. Hyde. I totally get what you're saying. Somtimes I'm the Dr. in my Brooksbrother's suit, driving in the slow lane playing nice, the when the moment strikes me, pinky toe rests on the throttle I've suddenly hit the hyperspace button and am doing 100 MPH, in comfort mode, in traffic.

My E55 is my, "Fortess of Solitude" with full tints all around I regularly have full on smile attacks (think the Joker in Batman) when I happen to slightly depress the accelator pedal in traffic.

Once you have an AMG you realize everyone else is commuting/driving in souless, boring, steel boxes with zero excitment (Minivan's hello!) while you are cacooned in a groto of power, luxury, status and excitement.

It's almost like we have an inside joke on every single person on the road today that is NOT driving an AMG, they just aren't aware. I see Dad's driving their kids to school in Minivans and I actually feel bad for them. (And I have 3 kids!)

From a guy who drives 100 miles daily too and from work, I feel this everyday!

Alex

@Meeyatcht1, you don't worry about that ticking time bomb of engine failure that's looming in the not too distant future??

Amen. I had mine out yesterday for a short time and had to be cautious of the Michelin SSs and cold blacktop....and I couldn't help but sit the speedo on 100 cruising up a wide open 4 lane interstate highway for a few miles. God I love that car and make that declaration everytime I slide behind the wheel. Viagra...eat your heart out...nothin' flows the blood like an AMG!

AMG vehicles can have some side effects like: became a speeding demon and wish for more and more speed! Of course you need to be responsable and follow the local rules and common sense.

Its ok, you are a perfectly normal AMG maniac

It is so easy to get the AMG sickness. The 63 is such a sleeper. When people first look over, they have to look twice and then start to realize that there is something special about the car. Especially if you have it lowered, painted calipers and a bad *** exhaust. I thought my NSX and Vette was loud with the Comptech headers and exhaust on the NSX and Corsa Extreme on the Vette, but it doesn't compare to the MBH headers and cats and res delete !!
63 is wicked loud, but cruises at a nice tone.
I know I am a ticket just waiting to happen even with radar and jammers all lit up !!! Mercedes hit a home run with the 6.2 litre engine, but looks like a grand slam with the new TT !!! Now if I can just make it over to Germany and take the AMG tour !!! Thanks for the post.

Removed resonator + mufflers. *Nothing special, but she purs around nicely. Definitely look into getting some work done, your car would sound beast and you'll love it.

Thanks bro! Your RS4 is beautiful. I had an A4 B7 and loved it. Did some light modifications, ECU, intake, exhaust and it was able to hang with my buddies STi. Always wanted more power in it though, everytime an RS4 drove by I became envious. I knew if I had the RS4 the tables would be turned when cruise nights came along.

And talk about holding value Jesus. Great car.

Thanks for crapping on my joy. But, no, since I don't see a roadside lined with blown up E63s, no, I am not worried. Now a meteor hitting my car, that has me worried.

Love my AMGs. Can anybody tell me why a 95 NSX still so expensive ? around $40K ? I always love the way NSX looks but why still so expensive for a 17 years old car ?

Because nice and not riced out ones are getting harder to find. Simple supply and demand. But that is a conversation for a different forum, or you can send me a PM.

Not even, this is your thread and you can take it OT if you want. I for one am interested as well. No need to keep secrets pics of your NSX?

Is the joy of an E63 seeing if you can hit 100mph or 110mph before the on ramp meets the freeway or the clenching feeling you get when it gets loose at a 100mph on a wet Seattle freeway or maybe its laying down 4 gears of rubber in a 25mph zone and not exceeding the speed limit? All of the above and more! I love this car!!!
