AVOID Fab-Tech Performarnce / FTP....he truly is CRAPTECH!!!
I am a reasonable person. ***** happens and I always give people a second chance. I want to encourage more products for our platform. But, I will NEVER again do business with fab-tech performance / FTP.
I was the first person to order his engine bay tank. I paid $600. I paid extra so that I could get it early. Did I get it early? No. I waited and waited. When I finally got it, the tank did not fit. However, when I flipped it over, it did fit. The tank would fit if I simply flipped it over. I told this to FTP. I took picas and showed it to him to prove what I was saying.
I have a 2005 E55 Wagon. Maybe something is different in that corner area(?). I doubt it, but I gave the benefit of the doubt to FTP. I told FTP just reverse everything on the tank and it will fit. I sent the tank back (FTP paid for the shipment back to him). We agreed that FTP would just flip the tank over and reverse everything. Did FTP do that? No.
Instead, I waited and waited for weeks and weeks and weeks. Every time, I am the one that has to ask the status.
Finally, I have had enough and wanted FTP to ONLY communicate with me in emails - so there is writing. Does FTP do that? No. FTP continues to call me and tells me he wants to talk. I repeated over and over again that it must be by email given his history, broken promises and I want written proof of our discussions from that point.
I find out that FTP ordered new sheet metal to make a new tank!?! That is not what we agreed. But, ok...FTP takes that risk and assumes that risk all on his own. It turns out the idiot forgot the measurements. All FTP had to do was to just reverse everything on my tank. Instead, the idiot makes a new tank and forgets the measurements. I will bet that he sold my tank that was returned and that is why he can not remember the measurements or what was needed to be done for me to have a working fitting tank.
I tell FTP that I want what I paid for and that I do not want a refund. I give FTP a deadline to deliver my tank and he does not meet it. I give him one final deadline to provide me the tank that I paid for or I will file suit.
What does he do? He paypals me $520! Where did the other $80 go? I paid him $600. And, I did NOT want the money. I want what I paid for.
In the end, after +3 months of bull hit. I lose $80 of my $600 and no tank.

Go directly to dads bro and tell him the situation
He's not a vendor here anymore but he's still on PSC so post there to get him to respond but very unlikely he will

E-mail dads and he will get you taken care of. I've bought a lot of stuff from him and his work is great for the price. Give him the measurements and it will end up being a lot cheaper to boot.

Yeah, I'm really sad to hear about this. I'm local to him and have dealt with him couple times and everything went flawlessly. I do know that his in-laws side of the family have been thru some hard times, not sure if that affect him or his business. Anyway, I'm sorry to hear about this. I'm all for having options with our car aftermarket vendors, but if a vendor can't deliver in a timely manner then you, the consumer, need to move on.

I too am done with that Idiot.
I ordered a trunk mount kit from him, got the invoice marked paid literally within 10 minutes of the paypal being sent. I was given a delivery date 9 days in the future, Fine, it takes a while to build this stuff. 9 days slips to 18, 18 slips 25.
I tell this chuckle head that I have a drop dead date that is in 8 days he swears up and down that I'll have the tank kit in 4 days and he's shipping it 2nd day air.... at day 6 I get a UPS ship tag for GROUND transport with a expected delivery date 7 days in the future.
I call Steve and he starts to hem and haw, I tell him to switch the shipping to two day and eat the charges, He tells me he can't. I tell him I'm going to post and holy **** he can get me the tank 2nd day.
27 days from the date of order I get the tank (a dads tank) with a really ****ty JB Weld mounting job of the lift pump (Hello it's loud thanks to the solid mounting you idiot) oh yeah he forgot to pull the pump wires thru the bulkhead mount.... I had to do that. then there is the ****TY plastic fittings. one other thing, 30 feet of 3/4" hose does NOT net you 1.5 gallons of fluid (it's .69 gallons any online calculator will tell you that you dolt)
So in the end I ordered a 5 gallon trunk mount kit that is really 3.5 gallons with the hose (He forgot that the pump displaces .75 gallons) and only got it by my date 33 days in the future because I had to call and hound this guy and still didn't get what I ordered
oh and the best thing, He emails me 4 days after it delivered asking for me to give the kit AND SERVICE a positive review on the forums... I never answered that email

Agreed - I bought one of the first Heat Exchangers from him, it arrived damaged (not his fault) but he made up for it - he was very communicative and ensured I was happy.

Listen you could have a hundred happy customers that have bought from SteveM.
GT-ER and Toadster are obviously examples of that and i dont think they are affiliated with him in any way and are offering an honest opinion.
Im sure there are many out there that have no problem with the products offered FTP.
But recently you have had three individuals that also have no affiliation, that share the same story, and are unhappy with his products and poor customer service. And it is poor bc i can attest to that fact. These few instances will break the business.
Its the last four instances, its the same story.
I see he offers fabrication services for GSX-Rs as well. Does anyone know if these bikers have had any issues. If its one area you cant FC UK up on, its motorcycle fabrication. Bikers are pickey and i would imagine if the same Modus Operandi happens with the bikes, then someone over there in biker land has to be unhappy.
I really hope steve steps up to the plate and makes good with the products bought by Berti00, Manuyc, AMGPilot, and JCJMW
Reducing the price on products after it was determined that they were poorly constructed was really a bad move
I have my doubts on the necessity of the restocking fee.

- Product arrives not as expected or is poorly constructed,
- Customer service is poor
- Customer expects SteveM to fork out money on his own dime,
- SteveM doesnt have the capital to do so
- In the end customer gets shortchanged

E55 w/ goods, Z32 Project underway
Settle it with your cars, not your childish 20yo playground bantering guys. E55 vs. CLS55. Winner gets bragging rights, loser goes home with his nose in his azz. But honestly, 99% of the time this kindergarten BS gets posted up and the parties meet up, it's
time.
