...............This is a common complaint against mercedes. I like performance cars, but I like the combination of luxury and performance even more. This is why I'm unlikely to buy a Viper regardless of how fast it is. So for me, although it might sound counterintuitive, I will not buy an AMG car with manual transmission. The E55 is just perfect. I like to haveTV, DVD, Nav and all the toys and bells and whistles in a car that can accelerate like bat out of hell. Having a manual gear box will detract too much from enjoying the rest of the car.

No. My days of manulas are over. I like fun driving but only when I choose to. I would have considered the M 5 if it had auto. BTW, there must be a lot of us since BMW is offering essentially an auto next time around.

NO, that's not what AMG is about.

If I wanted a manual super sedan, I would have gotten an M5.

I already have 2 manual Porsches in my garage. I wanted a 4 door daily drive that is clutch-less and powerful, thats why I opted for the E55. However, I would prefer an F1 or SMG gear.

The new M5 will be offered in a traditional manual and a SMG III gearbox. I also read that BMW is considering a pure auto, but I think this will not happen.

I would absolutely opt for the manual 6 speed. True F1 paddle shifters would also be preferable to the current tranny.

HELL yeah, I'd LOVE to have this car in a 6 speed... my preference would be 6 speed, SMG, then speedshift as we have it now. Looks from the posts here that DC has a valid reason for not putting manuals in the cars

mercedes, there not looking for manuel, if the all new cl65 amg was manuel it would have close to 900 torque, if mercedes wanted manuel they would have made it, but amg is auto thats all and its fine with me, i have two great auto amg's, and i did own a m3, and manuel just doesn't suit me, it might feel fun to other people, but its just not for me.

Granted, I'm only a 21 year old college student, so what do I know.... but here's my opinion.

For cars like the S55, and CL55, sure, keep the sportshift.
For the E55 and SL55, I think it's debatable, but it would be a nice option.
For the SLK32, C32, and especially the CLK55, you NEED to offer a manual. The CLK55 would be my DREAM car if it were offerred with a manual. The character of that car would seem to suit a 6 speed manual perfectly.

But instead, I'll dream of the new M6. It's a pity because I don't believe there is a BMW available that is more beautiful than it's MB counterpart. But I know that in ten years, it will be an M car for me, not an AMG. Perhaps in 20 years, it will be an AMG

I think the new BMW 6 Series looks great. The new BMW M6 will be a killer!
