I found this in the oil pan of the C55 engine I'm working on. Seems like they are two seperate parts. The red box is the only place where that part looks broken, the rest of that part seems intact. The other has notches all around.

Looks like they are perhaps part of the timing chain guides or something?

Looks like might be half of a valve spring retainer???

Okay, I figured out the upper part...it's the out tip of one of the chain guides. The large round thing is what I don't know yet.
