opinion on 70k 2006 e55 white pano car quickly! please!
OK, I am close to a deal on a 70k mile white car e55 2006 for $25k, it has every option except parktronic! No paintwork except bumpers (figures with no parktronic) clean carfax, 2 owner car, no curbrash on wheels and 60-70% tires michelins. What do you guys think, I am thinking about sending a deposit asap but waiting for response from you professionals who own one! Thanks in advance.

P.S. Where my name is on the site just under it, it says drives: and I wrote 2003 e55 because I initially came on this site thinking I was buying that car but it was a disaster so my question is...how the heck do you change it? I went into all aspects of the cars in my garage etc. and I cant find that to change it! Any advice?

There is a super clean white Renntech modded one on craigslist in Atlanta for $28k with warranty. I wish it was closer but I really don't want to buy it sight unseen, and I think it's still over priced.

I looked for 6 months to find my white with pano roof 05 (bought early last year) which had pretty much every option as well minus parktronic (active xenon headlights, 6 disc in dash changer, nav, keyless go, pano roof, electric trunk closer, electric rear sunshade, heated and ventilated seats, etc), I paid several thousand more than you will be with close to same mileage, so I would say you are getting a good deal.

That seems like a great price!! I paid much more for my 03 with more miles, but has a moderate amount of options. Does yours have any options at all? If they are going for this kind of price, I'm gonna take a hit when it comes to selling mine. Maybe I will never sell it, can't see why I would ever want to

Seems awfully cheap! Are there any issues what-so-ever? What state are you in?

It seems it has some sort of major leak or something going on. One of the last pics there is water coming out of the overhead light.

Good catch!
Looks like some photos were taken in the rain, and others on a more sunny day.
The EPC datacard shows that it has a lot of nice options (Dynamic Seats, trunk closer, Bi-Xenon, Keyless Go, Heated/Cooled Seats, NAV, etc) Not much missing in the way of options other than Distronic / Parktronic...
I'd want to see the VMI from a dealership on this car. It seems weird that the CarFax doesn't show any service history at all. I'm pretty sure dealership stuff shows up on that report, indy shop stuff might not....
The water all over that front overhead console might be an indication of a major pano roof leak of some sort...not the kind of thing you want to pay out-of-pocket to fix. I'd confirm that before any money changes hands.

Find a Mercedes Dealership that is willing to run the VMI (Vehicle Maintenance Inquiry) on that VIN# for you....
Studying that service history might give you clues about whether they've been fighting water issues, pano issues, etc. It might also give you clues about how fanatical the previous owners were about regular maintenance.
(I'd want to see the complete service history on the car no matter where it was serviced)

Here is a 2005 37k mile pewter 55 for 26,000 at a Carmax in SC. This one might be a little low optioned but it's tough to beat their warranty..

I had the sales guy go take pics and look at their pics and he says there is no issue. He understands how I am and I told him not to play any funny games by wiping it clean and then taking pics or anything and also said that I will run their garden hose over the roof for 10 minutes when I come to pick it up! lol He assured me that there is no problem. He seems like a newish guy that is...believe it or not...very honest!
I also have my buddy running the vin # through the benz computers to see service history and any issues in the past. I am covering all the bases before driving 240 miles. I appreciate all the heads up on the car and other cars you guys are finding!

So you're believing him in saying that there is no leak and no issues with the car after there are obvious signs that there is a major leak going on and with proof (pics)? I'd say you may want this car too much. Good luck.

My friend, let me explain to you that own 8 muscle cars and I have not had a caddy ctsv, benz, bmw, etc. in about 7 years so I went 7 years without a nice newer car I can go another 7...I drive a 1970 chevelle SS, 69 camaro SS, 60 nomad wagon, which is the coolest believe it or not...anyway...I am not itching to buy anything but it is a white car with pano...find another! I didn't say I was buying it site unseen, I am driving 4.5 hours and I will hold the hose over it for 5 minutes and check. It says, in prior posts, that it is raining there all day and no water, it also says that the guy went and looked at it while raining and no water. Can you believe him? In what I do, you have to read people on the phone and I believe that he is on my side in other things that he has told me. I told him that I would hold a hose over it when I come blah blah blah...if it leaks, I curse them all out and do some work in the area. I have some old cars to see in Mass. anyway so no biggie. Maybe you should read the other posts as well, I will thoroughly check it out...long story short...I do not want any car too much...TRUST ME! I appreciate you're lookng out though.

What is with this gas tank issues I am hearing?

Hey OP we have the same interest in cars. When I decided that I wanted an E55, I did my share of shopping. It seems you found this white one (which is an awesom color on this car) and as you said run the hose on the car to see if it leaks.
Check the VMI to see if the fuel leak issue has been taken care of under warrenty, and if it hasn't been done it can still be done under warrenty at a MB dealer (maybe not 100% paid for) even though the car is out of warrenty. Basically when you get a full tank of gas you'll be able to smell gas inside the car. Under the back seat of the car you'll find the fuel tank and a sending unit which the seal/and plastic clip is replaced under warrenty. I'm sure someone may chime in with a better discription but that's it in a nut shell.
BTW I picked up a White 350 with a sport package for my wife, and I'm going to look at a 69' Camaro within the next few nights, and/or make a guy an offer on a 67' that I saw recently, and I just sold a 70' SS, BB 4speed Chevelle.
Good Luck -
