2007 E63 AMG
stock vs. stock i can say weather affects both cars, hell I think it affects ANY car! the 63 obviously won't have heatsoak issues, but it's MUCH happier in cold weather.
And not to start a war but for what it's worth I went with a buddy who has an '06 e55 to the track a couple months ago, beat him every time (9 i think) albeit by small margins, and I think most if not all of the runs he got me in the 60 ft, so it wasn't that his "torque monster" couldn't be tamed at the line, I was actually the poorer driver, but the car made up for it.
I think this is one of those rare instances where, if mods REALLY aren't desired, the 63 is the better car

If you are serious about not modding it you should 100% get an E63.
But we all know there is no way you will not mod it, or you would already be looking at an E63.
Get an E55.
Don"t worry about year or mileage, just make sure all the appropriate maintenance and upkeep has been preformed.
An E55 at 125K mikes, with the correct history, is much better than an E55 with 60K and no history.
Then call Eurocharged and take delight in embarrassing just about anyone foolish enough to play with you![Smilie](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif)

I currently have both (stock). When I bought my e63 a few years ago I couldn't get up the courage to unload the e55 as I had so much fun in it. My simple take, anything from a dead stop in a straight line the 55 all day long. But the NA motor, 7-speed tranny and its ability to slam downshifts going into a turn and hammer away coming out give it a nimbleness (for a 4 door mind you) the 55 can't compare to. Bottom line its all about individual tastes. If I had to choose, it's the e63.

The E63 is nice, but I would buy an E55 and spend the extra money on an E63 bumper upgrade, heat exchanger, long tube headers, and smaller SC pulley.
Here is a 1/2 mile race between an E63 wagon (filming) vs my E55 wagon

I debated this too - after finally coming to the realization that despite being smitten by the CLS it was just too confining in the back seat. I drove them both and the incredible torque of the E55 just had me hooked. Plus I originally intended to do some minor mods to the E55 but have held off as it really was plenty fast and was just going to get me tickets. But now I'm thinking of a trip to Eurocharged and upgrading to E63's much more handsome bumper. I'd drive them both and see what you like better - I don't think either is a bad choice.

From my understanding E55 06 and E63 07 are still around $10K different. That's a big gap for a $25K car. Either way, they are both great car, who is faster ? you should test drive both then make your decision. I bought a 05 E55 3.5 years ago because at that time E63 was like $20K more expensive and did not come with Dynamic seat.

I am assuming that the 113 motor is the e55...correct? So, I guess I can assume that the 722.6 is the e55 trans.? I don't know all these number tech terms so please...if you're going to reply give it to me in idiot language! LOL

Our engine in the E55 (latest model) is technically called M113k, the k being the supercharged version of the W211 body and M113 non supercharged version from the previous W210 E55. And yes the 722.6 is the 5 speed transmission in the E55 and there are other non Mercedes cars such as SRT8 vehichles that share the transmission. They have suttle differences like the shift solenoids on the valve body being stronger in ours (more fluid pressure) and better clutch packs.

at this point with all the new cars around there is always something quicker and faster so go with the newer car and make sure you get yourself a warranty .
