New PB, slips and vids inside
Yesterday was one of those days when nothing goes as planned. I'll just stick with the performance issues. Upon getting ready to pull the E off the trailer I discovered that the passenger side intake tubing was missing. It had been borrowed while my car was at the shop and forgotten about. Also MIA, was my memory card for the dashdaq which meant no data-log, and my flash loader for changing tunes, both of those were my fault. Not such a great start.
First pass was just to make sure everything feels ok and the track was good. The next two passes are below, both 1.50 60fts. On both passes you could feel her pulling hard through 1st and 2nd, and then in 3rd the nose would drop off. That ruined two potential passes in the 50s!!!
Nothing had been changed on the car since last month when she pulling strong through the entire 1/4. That said, we came to the conclusion that at the higher mph, having one intake tube on and one off was causing turbulence across the t/b opening.
The next pass we pulled the intake tube on the driver's side and the mph shot back up to where she should be......who would have thought that? We were on the right track. Obviously pulling in hot engine compartment air wasn't doing us any favors so we needed to figure out what to do. At the same time, Mike(Dodger) had called and suggested going to HD and making something. We were due for lunch so we left the track and set out to find what we needed. During our travels we picked up some flexible aluminum tubing, duct tape, and a new memory card for the dashdaq. We made a new intake tube and crossed our fingers it would work. The next two passes are before (hot air) and after (cool air). Not much of an improvement, maybe the eng/trans was too cool from sitting?
We were running out of time at this point and decided to replace the driver's seat with a lightweight Sparco (passenger side had been removed at beginning of the day, rear seat still onboard). There was less than 20 minutes left when we laid down our next pass, a 10.53. We gave her a quick 10 minute cool down, added some ice to the reservoir, and right back into the lanes to get our last chance of the night.
Finally, all the pieces clicked together with another 1.50 followed by my best 1/8 et/mph to date and a new PB.
I'll be adding videos later. Any questions, ask up.
*Note, the times on the slips are one hour ahead of the actual time, so 5:00 on the slip was really 4:00.

Very big congratulations!!!! So when do you start selling Home Depot aftermarket parts??? What a nice accomplishment right before putting the car away for the winter. Besides the custom intake tubes(joking of course) anything real different from the past?

Congratulations again. Sounds like a rough day but well worth it in the end. Great job out there and raising the bar for us to shoot for and most of all is how consistent your car is. Hopefully this spring we can all get together at MIR and have some fun.

Bruce is quite the cinematographer, would like to hear the whole celebratory reaction from the big guy. Congrats BK, nice to see you back on top and well deserved, you piloted that bad boy like a pro.

Thanks man.
LOl. Thanks, I appreciate your reply. In all honesty, anyone with some practice could do the same.
Thank you sir. I was hunting for that 1.49 but it just wasn't there yesterday.
Thanks. She is tweaked and dialed in.
Thanks, I was running MS 109 and a race tune yesterday. Not much left in her with the modest mods she has. No matter what though, nitrous will never go on my 55.
Thanks.
