I think i have shown with stock pulleys how much is held back with stock convertor even in normal driving. a stock pulley car wont burn 2nd from a roll thats for sure. real tires should get me that 1.60 or a 1.59 stock pulley.

I guess your missing my point. How is the stock converter holding anyone back when they are running faster 60ft times than stalled cars? I've gone faster 60ft times than you on stock stall and pilot sport street tires so yea it's doable. If your still running in the 1.60's with drag radials it's the car/driver that's the problem. What's your car weigh with you in it?

full weight plus 210lb driver at the time. either way i showed a gain by driving the same exact way. Its the tires i raced alot of cars. If you got a bug man we will meet up if you want you can take a pass in my car if you burn the tires though id jack you out of that car so fast you wouldnt know what hit you. stick to what we are talking about here which is you will see a gain, i said all along i never got a full test on the stall due to tire spin.

You make no sense. You haven't seen got to really test it but it does give you a gain? What's the weight of your car also not "full weight". Bring the car to MIR and I'll put money down that I'll run faster than you in your car

I've got a completely stock car that's broken the tires loose in 2nd so that's not much to go on.

I'm also with rocket. I don't believe low 11's are possible with a stock car + stall. High 11's, no problem but not even mid 11's on a completely stock car + stall unless he runs into the perfect storm.

Agreed, it's going to take a lot more than a converter to get low 11's, especially here in Florida. Welcome to the forums BTW.

Anyone know for sure what the stock stall speed is on the E55? Also, what is the stock stall for a V12 turbo car? I think the V12 converters should have a higher stall from the factory.... Trying to decide if I should use the V12 converter while I'm doing the V12 trans.

We have special cars I never had a problem breaking my tires loose in 2nd gear stock either. Modded I could do rolling burnouts on Hoosier drag radials at will and I'm not talking about slow rolling burnouts I'm talking 50mph and up and it would spin until 3rd gear.

mine doesnt do 50mph rolling burnouts modded and with a converter. In fact my one complaint about post HS converter is - rolling stabs feel slower above 35mph car wont ever down shift.

A stall should drop times a considerable amount if done right. Most LSx cars I have seen drop a good 2-3 tenth in the 1/4 with stall. Its not all about the 60 foot either with a stall. It will stay in power better throughout the shifts. If 99 got a 11.59 spinning thorugh first there is little doubt a 11.4 would be doable if he hooked properly. Anything below 11.5 is low 11s fellas, come on........

I would love to see a before and after with a good stall, good tune and good driver at the track. Usually they drop your MPH a tad from most cars I have had but also lower your ET.

Problem is these cars aren't a n/a lsx that needs a stall to get into the torque/powerband. Those cars and mustang respond huge to higher stalls. These cars are making instant torque and don't respond like that.

If he had a tune when he ran that time, then his car wasn't stock. I'd even argue tires since we're all talking "stock".

All the fastest LSx with blower or turbos are all autos with high stalls. The higher stall keeps it in the power band through every gear change. Blower or not staying in the power is what makes the difference.

as far as him being stock. Well I guess the tune changes that but I cant imagine by very much. 11.59 is fantastic for a virtually stock E55 with tires IMO.

I guess we will just wait and see. I'm confident in good weather, stock with just a converter and sticky tires I can get this car well under 11.50's. There is a lot more to drag racing than just flooring it lol. Most people that had the identical mods as my camaro run low-mid 12's. Some will make it into the high 11's. The car made 324 at the tires on a local dynojet (corvette masters in maitland to be exact) and runs quicker than cars I've built that make 100+ more on the exact same dyno. It's all in how you set the car up and how you drive it. These cars have a lot of potential, but simply adding power isn't the best way to make them quicker. To each his own, I suppose, but personally I'm all about doing more with less!

Ec-nova.......... Very well put.

I'm always amazed at how fast the factory stock class 5.0 mustangs would run with 225 hp .......
Off the showroom this car ran 13's........ Optimized it would run 11's

It's all in the setup: Power delivery, stiall, gears, suspension for wgt transfer, etcccc.

exactly nova thats why i kept the pulley stock and never used my race tune. I went 11.6 119.9 with stock convertor dead hooking in great air same combo would of been fun with skinnies up front.

Good luck...but you're not the first guy around here to have drag racing experience. Like I said, if you hit the perfect storm you might see mid 11's with a stall and tires.

99 hit 11.59 .... I seriously dont think the tune added much to his times. Guys have hit 11.7s bone stock with DRs. An 11.4-11.5 wouldnt be a big deal at all with a good stall and a TCU that is tuned for it. Driver mod too of course.

Lol I dropped 4 tenths on my first run with a tune from OE. I had been running all day at a rental when I first bought the car. Jeremy from OE was there and sad he would put a tune on the car and let me make a few runs and see if I liked it. First run was .4 faster and every run after that was the same. Yes a tune makes you run faster. As for lsx cars of course a higher stall will help on a turbo car or centrifugal blower not to mention the stalls on those cars are 1700rpm. By the way this isn't my first time drag racing either .

ok folks seems like you are all missing alot of my well documented data stock no stall no tune 11.9 at 116, then a tune in minus da 11.6 119.9mph dead hooking. Now i added a stall no more dead hooking and in warmer air and 800 positive da i ran 11.59 at 120mph. so for guys wondering about tunes and stall convertors here is my experiences and the times with the weather and traction all show a gain.
