I did a search.. didn't yield anything specific to what I was looking for.

How do I know if I am pre-wired for Sirius XM? Also, are there any differences or more than one type of unit available for the w211? My car is a 2006.

yes you are. there is only Sirius SDARS

I asked about the reciever because I saw that some had a "split"(?) antenna? or something along those lines...

I dont think your prewired...06 seems a bit late. I was prewired and im 04. I thin they stopped midway in 05.

Look for my thread and check for the wireloom to attach the sdars unit in the trunk

Another easier way is to remove the trunk lid interior panel(just above the license plate) and see if the prewiring for the antenna is present. OEM instructions want you to mount in the trunk.

Ah really? Crap... I really wanted the stock Sirius XM. I have the sat button too

Now.. if I have it, wouldn't I see an orange wire by the battery?

Correct you would see an orange wire back there.
That same orange wire is in the audio gateway at the very rear of your trunk. It is disconnected. When you install the SDAR unit, you unplug the yellow wire and bridge the orange wire in between either end of the yellow.

I've got a ****ton of crap in my trunk right now and no garage to work in at the moment, or I'd just dig and see if the cables were there....
