A sad day for me!
Well got the first bit of snow today in good old Wisconsin!! Unfortunately, that means the beast went into storage today. Probably won't see her till April, already feels weird not having her in the driveway. Still just couldn't justify putting her through all the salt and risk of driving through a Wisconsin winter. Plus the Michelin Super Sports are definitely no good for winter, was slipping around today with less than an inch on the roads!! Already planning for more mods early next spring, 20" HRE 597R's, TB and Quaiffe, are on the list for sure. Hope all you guys in the south enjoy your beasts I'll be patiently awaiting the spring.

Meh, whatever. I don't mind storing my car. It gives me something to look forward to after the snow melts. It's almost like getting a new car since I typically go 4-5 months without driving it. Plus it keeps the mileage down. Think positive dude.

How people can enjoy dealing with snow, giving up their vehicle for half the year and freezing their nuts off I will never understand. It hit 80s today in Florida, E55 on 20s year round.

As a fellow member who lives in Racine I unfortunately understand. I actually put mine away a couple weeks ago.
Since we both live in the same town if you ever need a hand with anything just ask. (I live on the north end of town past the zoo)

winter break
Yeah , I know how you feel bro I putt my car up in storage right after thanksgiving before it starts snowing bad. Its up till end of April when the roads are washed clean of salt . These winters are terrible on car interiors the salt eats your rubber seals and molding and damages the carpet. Also people in this state can't drive in the winter accidents accidents , plus 500hp isn't fun on a cold slippery road ... Plus in the spring its like driving a new car again. Oh it does keep the mileage down another plus

I think I've seen you around town twice. I'm right by the zoo. Is your car silver?

I agree that it helps to keep the milage low, but more importantly it prevents a lot of unnecessary rust. I don't "put it away" I just won't take it out when there's any sign of salt, or calsuim on the roads. Lets face it, the beast loves the cold weather, so it should get out and flex it's muscle.

I hear ya. I put my car away for the winter a few weeks ago. It just doesn't make sense to me to drive it in the winter (especially when I have a truck I can beat on). If I can't drive the car the way I want to drive it and have to worry about too many things, then it's not worth it. I'm thinking about trading my truck in on a 13' Subaru Wrx to spice up my DD though. Got to have some fun when the beast is hibernating.
BTW, what are you guys doing for storage? Battery tender? Def going to put some fuel stabilizer in. Anything else?

Yeah, I did the stabil and battery tender. Also paid the guy to start the car once a month to avoid any seals from drying up as directed to by Marcin at Speedriven. I don't have spare room to store it myself and didn't want to go the storage unit route. I found this guy through a local Merc dealer. He's got about 100 cars stored in a heated, alarmed facility!! It's crazy there must be close to 10 million dollars worth of car's in there. 2 Bently GT's, at least 10 Porsches, classic Merc's even saw a Lambo!!

Here's a list of what I do when I put my car away for the winter.
- Cleaned it inside, outside, and under the hood.
- Put an extra thick layer of wax on it.
- Placed STA-BIL in the gas tank and then topped it off.
- Place a canister of damp rid inside the car to keep moisture from building up.
- Stuff rags in the intake and exhaust to keep mice from trying to make a nice home out of the car in the dead of winter
- Inflated the tires to their exact specifications
- Put a Dust-Stop car cover on the car
- Place battery tender on battery

People, with this type of cars, you are losing money if you don't drive them. Get a set of winter tires and drive through the winter months. Just rinse down the undercarriage and wheel wells frequently with a hose with good sprayer. It will be even easier if you have a driveway for that rinse down.
As for me, I got a set of Michelin winter tires on separate rims for my old, reliable RWD Nissan--the tires and rims all for around $500. Still, it will likely be less than a dozen days of icy/snow covered road when I have to drive the "winter-tired" Nissan. Rest of the time, I'm still zooming about in my AMG with summer tires.

??.... I drive my car year round in the Midwest..... ??
It's (just) a Mercedes, not a Ferrari or Lambo.
And they're truly not that bad with the right driving style and precautions (some sandbags in the trunk, tires, etc)
Of course I don't drive on the really bad days, but then again I wouldn't drive an SUV on those days either!

You're right, you do have a lot of mods (I'm jealous!!)
I've driven plenty of F-cars and Lambos - AMGs are generally faster (GTO or Scud however...)
However my point wasn't really about the power, moreso about the "fragile-ness" of those cars. You really notice while just driving in general, even nothing to do w winter (Summer.)
The paint doesn't have the Ceramic clear coat so is more susceptible to chips/scratches/salt eating away at it, the F1 lines have been known to break and leave you stranded, buttons/interior plastic get sticky on older F-cars, convertible tops malfunction even on 430s....
For example, I personally leave my car running while gassing up in colder months - that would be a NO NO in a rear engine exotic as gas can spill over causing a fire (rare but has happened)....
THOSE would be the reasons I would not drive an exotic in winter, but an E-class Mercedes doesn't really apply (in my eyes) - now an SLR or SLS is obviously different as well though.... sorry you had to park her though!!! I just would miss my car too much, having to park it for so long.
Lastly but OT, I buy things to enjoy them. If I had a Ferrari, I wouldn't be upset if it got caught in the rain. Likewise, I have never felt odd wearing a 15k watch daily or having it get a few scratches. These are just material things, and I don't get enjoyment from merely looking at something.
