When I read that I was thinking to myself that every time I go to a track I'm putting 2008 Mercedes down and leaving the model part blank. I know it's for everyone's safety but its hard to take a car like that and put a 10-pt cage in it.

I doubt they'll be checking registration to see if your car is an 05 or an 08. Especially with cars like these, or a C6,Mustang etc. that crossed their cutoff date with no changes.
Where you might have a problem is if you were in any sort of competition, and won. You can bet on the second place guy crying about it to get you DQed if you were in an 07 running in the tens with no rollbar, and you beat him in his 08 running a tenth slower with no rollbar either.

LOL, I think I will use my newer Benz`s insurance and registration, if they ask in a few weeks. All letters and numbers to them, when it comes it Mercedes.
