2003 E55 Stereo questions...confirmation
Hey guys,
I’m new to the E55 and Mercedes in general. I’ve got a 2003 E55 with no navi, but with HK speakers, and the voice control thing.
I’ve done some reading here, but just want some confirmation on some questions…
• Since it’s an 03, that means it came with Audio 50?
• Since I have the HK’s, I have fiber optic wires right?
• If I want to update my head unit to a “command” version, is it plug and play?
Planning on updating the headunit, adding the OEM iPod connection, and then having a aftermarket subwoofer added.

Hello and welcome.
1. Yes you have the Audio 50 from the factory
2. Yes you do have fiber optic connections
3. Yes you can retrofit Navigation and for the most part it is plug and play. Look around the forum. There is a great DIY with pictures and all the part number of the parts you need.

Vioilio, thanks, I must have missed the DIY thread. I did a search for Audio50 to Command. I'll look again, but at least now I can start shopping for a headunit.

I know I am opening an old thread but didn't want to start a new one and haven't found what I was looking for.
2003 E55, no navigation, no command, no voice. I've been running a tape to my ipod/iphone for years and want to add the ipod connection in the glove box. I have bluetooth but cannot stream music and I have no aux input in the glove box or as an option on my screen.
Will the oem ipod connection work in my car?
