Maintenance of a car is not related to the cars decreased value. The Jet might be cheaper to by used vs when new but you still need jet fuel...so to say.

Agreed, but my point was many are getting into MBs because they have become very cheap to buy...unfortunately they are not very cheap to maintain, which was what the OP was trying to understand...(I would say that most consider the cost to maintain a vehicle when purchasing, regardless of wealth....)

Per other posts, there are several good threads on the general maintenance costs, so hopefully the OP will get the answers he/she was looking for...

a lot of these i repaired myself but i used the dealer to diagnose and when they gave me the estimate, i said "thanks but not thanks"

airmatic- 3 out of 4 replaced at $1300 a piece = $3900 (dealer did this one as i didnt have time)

lower control arm and thrust arm bushings/ ball joints = $ dealer quoted $1200 (i did this one myself)

aftermarket pulley fell off, though this would not be normal maintance if you dont mod your car = $1200 repair + new welded design pulley = $1000 total = $2200

tires, plan on at least one set per year as negative camber and torque is going to eat up any soft compound performance tire = $ 1000

alternator = $800 (was stranded and had to use dealer even though i could of done myself and saved lots of $$$)

i/c pump = $120 (did this myself, dealer would of charged around $500)

new o2 sensors = $100 (did them myself)

brakes = $200 (did them myself)

motor mounts = $200 (did them myself)

replaced indash cd changer as it died = $100 for used unit (installed myself)

idler pulled broke, replaced with asp idler pulley = $125 (did them myself)

so for normal maintaince it cost me about $6600 and hadn't i done a lot of the work myself it would of cost a lot more!

then you add in the repairs due to modding my annual total comes up to about $8800..... i should of got a porsche

I agree 100%...Not only does he have a **** plane in his signature, but he has a **** wearing the infamous Iron Cross as his avatar...

Matthew - I have no idea how old you are or if you are a skin head, neo ****, or other....but to most Americans, WWII was an awful war, and to most Germans, an embarrassing part of our / their history...Do yourself a favor, do a bit of reading, talk to WWII veterans, and show some compassion and respect to those that defended our country and the civil liberties of others, to those that suffered at the hands of evil, and do not admire/repect those that hate.

you do realize that mercedes was part of the **** regime an benefits greatly from it? there is probably some irony in that members avitar no ?

"Daimler-Benz avidly supported Nazism and in return received arms contracts and tax breaks that enabled it to become one of the world's leading industrial concerns. (Between 1932 and 1940 production grew by 830 percent.) During the war the company used thousands of slaves and forced laborers including Jews, foreigners, and POWs. According to historian Bernard Bellon (Mercedes in Peace and War, 1990), at least eight Jews were murdered by DB managers or SS men at a plant in occupied Poland. "

"In December of 1944, Daimler-Benz was using 26,958 forced foreign workers, 4,887 POWs, and thousands of concentration camp inmates under the most brutal conditions to build the Luftwaffe and other weapons of the **** war machine."

"During the Holocaust, the most respected German corporations used slave labor, including BMW, Daimler-Benz (Mercedes-Benz), Messerschmitt, and Krupp. Though they were not forced to use slaves, they nevertheless used them as “good business practice.” Additionally, I.G. Farben, a German chemical industry conglomerate, invested more than 700 million Reich marks (German dollars) to build a huge petrochemical plant at Auschwitz III, which was staffed by human slaves."

Wow... how shallow your thinking is? Really you need to think about the history of what you are driving and the engineer we are all using today?

If I posted a picture of Pol Pot would you know who he was? …without a Google search

Maybe you would be more offend with pictures of Mao Ze-Dong?

Bah the ***** were a bunch of clowns. They lost in the end due to some lowly Serbs that refused to stop screwing with them even after they were overrun. Hitlers goofy mustache had an itch to show those trouble maker Serbs he was the man by spending weeks bombing the hell out of them which led to a delay in invading Russia that year. This delay led to winter setting in during the invasion of Russia which the ***** funny mustaches couldn't handle. The Russians were used to the crazy winters though and thus the ***** and goofy little mustaches were wiped off the face of the planet with the ultimate cowardice act by Hitler himself committing suicide. Had they not spent time making an example of the Serbs most every historian agrees they would have taken Russia and we'd all speak German. Yep a bunch of clowns as some on here would say.

Goes to show though, never give up the fight even when it seems all hope is lost. You can still make a difference.

100% Hitler was a nutty whack Job! But there is more to learn from the German history and the engineering ... than taking offense to a swatchka symbol.
My Jewish Attorney and very good friend said " If you do not like the symbol... Don't look at it" !

One oil change and air filter change (did it myself).

One set of tires (Continental ProContact [OEMs]).

Two car washes/details.

So, right about $900.00 And that's only because of the tires...

But, it was parked in the garage for most of the year.... :-)
