03' E55 Navigation System?

03' E55 Navigation System?
I have noticed that a lot of board members 03' E55's are not coming with nagivation, and when I went to www.mbusa.com to build an E55 navigation was not listed as an option! So my question is whats the deal, is it not available right now? At first I thought it was standard but that wouldn't make sence cus' a lot of members don't have them!!

Navigation is not standard on any W211 E-Class cars and not an option on any US 2003 E320, E500 or E55. Delayed availability. Should be option on 2004 W211 cars.

Yes, MB originally offered a deal whereby you could purchase nav in advance and they would retrofit. Then they determined that the retrofit was not feasible (read too much money to the dealership and perhaps some issue with the airbags but I don't buy that last part). So they offered to replace vehicles of owners who had pre-paid for nav with a new vehicle with nav instead. See the many hundreds of posts on the topic in the 211 E class. Some of those replacement vehicles have now been delivered with nav. Just as the "deadline" for changing options was approching for my vehicle, my dealer said I could add nav but that, with the replacement vehicles slotted first, my car likely would be delayed. I chose not to wait, and now it appears that the wait would have been until the start of 04 production. I don't know of anyone in the US with an E55 with nav yet.
