No dipstick
Can anyone tell me why Mercedes has done away with the dipstick in the engine compartment? I believe there is none in the W211 although I am not sure about the non Kompressor W211

I know about the menu, but it still cannot beat the analog accurracy of a good ole fashion dipstick. I see the comparison similar to a digital vs. analog clock

I heard the mechanic say that there is actually a "tube" in there for a dipstick but I sure don't know where it is![Confused](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/confused.gif)
I wish it had a dipstick...I usually like to check the color of the oil as well as it's level

There is a tube but its not for the dipstick, its for pumping out the oil. That's the approved method of draining oil form MB's. Why do you think they engineered the oil filter on top of the engine.
