I spoke with my dealer and there is no OEM replacement flat badge. The ones from aftermarket dealer such as Performance products tends to be too large and does not seat well into the small depression of the hood space for it

My dealer has been "self manufacturing" replacement flat badge for years for models which uses a hood star. What they do is take the original hood star, remove the star and glus a small flat three pointed star badge in the hole left by the upright star. The small flat star "filler" is actually a lapel pin from mercedes. Ithought that was quite smart as it will ensure a perfect fit and it dosen't look bad at all. In fact, it is something all our forum members can consider and easily DIY. I am just old and lazy so I will buy one instead

I just purchased one for my '01 this afternoon from my dealer ($21.xx). It is the typ. flat bagde for the SLK, SL, etc. I put it on and didnt notice a bad fit, although it is much larger than the OEM star.
