W211 E55 AMG

New Owner W211 E55 AMG

Hi everyone, recently picked up 2004 E55 with 50K on the clock, desert silver color. Love everything about the car, just feel that rear right shock doesn't sound like it should. Any one know good place to take her to around North Jersey? Any idea on the cost?

Congrats.
Shocks are known to fail, but 50k miles seems premature. Check All the subframe bushing and mounting points.

The rear shocks retail at around $500 each, not cheap at all.

ive had the same issue since i bought it...switched shock, subframe bolts all good...i think its just the way they ride.

Does it sounds a thud when you go over bumps/cracks in the road? A bit like something in the trunk is thumping around?

Its common, but i do not thinks its normal... What you describe is diffrent from the dead body i believe.. The dead body is 1 extra thump when going over a speed bump i believe. This is like your hitting 3 bumps when you just hit a simple manhole cover... Like a clunking noise...and always seems to come from the right side.. I honestly believe it has to do with subframe and diff mounts going bad....or the rear airbags... Dont waste your time on struts, it wont change anything

Ok cool thanks.. Cause this issue is driving me maddd... Bolts are tight.. Mounts apper to be good... Going to just do my whole rear end... Would you happen to have a diagram of the rear end suspension?
