2007 E63 Coolant Level Error- HELP!
Hi all.
I did a search on the forums and google, but turned up nothing that helps.
Hopefully someone out there can assist.
I have an E63 2007 Model. Every time I start the car I am getting the error on the dash "check coolant level"
The coolant level physically is fine. The vehicle doesn't overheat at all. Even on a 46 deg Celsius day, driving in stop go traffic. Car runs fine.
My first suspicion was the sensor located underneath the reservoir tank. So I pulled it out and got a new one from the dealer.
The new one was a little different in its design, but still fit (I guess they updated part). Anyway, plugged it in, and still same error.
I have tried shorting the connection to fool the car, by unplugging the sensor and putting a paperclip in the connection to loop it back to complete the circuit, but that didn't work either
The other weird thing was, when replacing the sensor I was expecting the sensor to be wet, or at least coolant to flow out of the hole when replacing the sensor. But the sensor is dry, and no coolant drained out. So I am wondering how it detects the level?
In any case, does anyone have any thoughts on what to do next? I have run my Star Diag on it also, and there is no faults at all. So weird.
I have also topped up the washer fluid resovoir too, as I read in the C Class forum something about them being linked. It was a long shot but I was trying to cover all bases. And it didn't help.
Any help appreciated.
Thanks!!!

Hahaha I was thinking the same thing.. Wrong sensor. Post the part # to the part you bought, I wonder what it REALLY does.. lmao
In the meantime, take a second look, and make sure thats the sensor you needed, if not, theres your problem
