It may be time to say Good Bye to the Ole 55 *Engine Damage*
Blackstone lab report is here, and it is not good. AT ALL. I will post up the pics in a minute..

Sorry John, but when you initially posted the info on your findings (metal flakes and chunks of your piston ring) many of us told you what the issue was [is]...It sucks....I believe I posted shortly after about rebuild kits and it is my belief we will see many others in similar situations. It still is far better financially to build the motor, than spend $40K + for another car IMHO.

You're right something is definitely wrong, I was just noting that it don't seem like the tech was familiar with the engine he was looking at based on some of his comments.
Well, something is definitely wrong, he had shavings all in his filter. It isn't a misdiagnosis by them.

We had the car in at the dealer last year/ about 8000 miles ago for regualr service and thought we had the oil done. But it was not done.
I wouldn't know if he knew or not either. So Your guess is as good as mine.
Yea, I should never have got my hopes up when the oil drained metal-flake free. But, Whats done is done.
Honestly I am wanting to rebuild, but I can't afford for MB to do it, and I don't think I have the tools and help to pull it off myself.
I think I will be
under 80K miles, no mods, and I change it every 7000, but the last one was not performed and I was unaware.

Will do. I am going to think about a few things before I make a decision. Whether it be rebuild, new engine(I really like the idea of having an M113 on an engine stand for me just to learn form and obtain knowledge from), sell, or keep as is. It runs great though, I don't know how the damage Blackstone states is there can be as bad as it seems. Hopefully have a decision by Monday. I hope I can keep it, lots of sentimental value. And I want my F14's. Hahaha

Id highly recommend you not attempt to rebuild your engine yourself. Being young without experience and wanting to learn is great, but there are much better platforms for learning than this one.
Rebuild a 350 Chevy and put it in an old truck or Nova or something like that.
Maybe get a pullout engine from a salvage car for 5-7k and have it put in, then tear down your old engine for fun? There will still be plenty you can sell off it when you're done taking it apart, I bet you can sell $3500-4500 worth of parts off it on eBay if the crank is still good.

We test our oil on our trucks and I was told one of the trucks was about to have an engine failure (high copper/zinc/tin and a few others). Well the truck is at 323,000 and counting and still going. Your numbers aren't crazy crazy high and its possible they Didnt use Mobil 1 last time they changed it. Drive it awhile and send oil out again to test.

I am going to change the oil and filter again in 1000 miles and send it back in. But I will def. be doing leakdown and compression in the meantime.

If the engine does totally blow out on me, I am almost certain I will replace the WHOLE motor, then have the blown one to hopefully fix and do something with. Anybody know if an M113 will fit into a 190e? lmao

You know it's serious when the flakes have part numbers on them. There is the possibility of an anomaly or contamination. Check it again in 500 miles.

This place is a joke.
Drive the car. If it's not misfiring or knocking I wouldn't worry about it. And don't go so long without an oil change. 10k miles or 1 year with less miles with the FACTORY filter and synthetic oil is ok, I prefer to change mine every 5k due to the Florida heat and my driving style. The service reminder on the dash "should be" idiot proof.
