I know this is the W211 AMG section and I have looking at some MB alternatives but feel kind of underwhelmed. I figure everyone here has somewhat similar tastes so I figured I'd see what you guys think.

Looking to spend under 30 grand for a nice daily driver for the next few years. I want something small-mid size and sporty but that can still be driven year round maybe with some snow tires. I am in Chicago so snow is a concern. The E55 is still a bit of a nice weather toy with lower miles and I want to keep it this way.

I have only owned one V6 and it wasn't by choice, and one inline 6 and its a big ol' diesel dually pickup that I'm looking to sell to move to something else. The 30 or so other cars I've owned were all V8's with one V10 mixed it. I think the only way I'd be happier in one of these smaller motored cars would be if it had forced induction. Looking for a bit more luxury and class mixed in with the speed and a bit better fuel economy over a big torquey V8.

335i is a fantastic car - a simple software upgrade, and it packs a lot of punch. Definitely worth checking out, given your requirements

335xi is a good dd and a tune will wake it up, you should consider an S4, or stay with a fourmatic MB.

Although this is true, if you are more on the performance side, I would recommend a modified Mitsubishi IX or X....Fast, fun, AWD, and cheap....

335D is underrated and never sold well but its a solid car and gets 600 miles to a tank.

I recently swapped my SC300 for a couple days with a freind of mine who has a 335 coupe.
I found very difficult to get comfortable in it. The interior is very crampedl. Even though it has a nice power band and very fast. I actually preferred driving my 15 year old car for a daily.

I think the Lexus IS250 AWD is worth looking at too. Not as fast as the 335i but way more comfortable.

I would look at a EVO or STI as well.

Then you'd be driving a classy car one day and a douchebag car the other... seriously Evo owners are always trying to get the most attention out of anyone on the road.... and then I spank them.

There aren't many cars that are as comfortable as the SC... probably the most comfortable car I've ever been in, let alone owned.

I almost bought an SHO before I bought my E55. AWD twin turbo V6 and every option available for 25K (sync, nav, heated / cooled seats, sunroof). Not slow either IIRC they ran about 1 sec slower in the quarter but a simple tune does a lot for them.

Yeah, i guess im biased
The SC is really a comfortable ride for its age. If the SC came with the home market air suspension and or hydraulic suspension like it did in japan. It would ride on rails.

I had a 2010 335i 6spd, It was a GREAT CAR... a tune will REALLY WAKE it up... They have a few minor issues, the Injectors and Secondary fuel pump go bad ALOT, make sure you have a warranty.

I have found the high pressure fuel pump is covered by a 10 year 120,000 mile warranty and they have finally worked the bugs out seemingly. I will almost surely be getting a warranty for 3 years or so.

If only MB would get their act together and provide us with a similar warranty for our ongoing fuel pump issues.

The 05 chrylser 300c shares chassis and suspension components with the w211 . It comes awd and turns off cylinders to save gas. this way u dont stray to far from mb. im a die hard mb guy and bmw is a no no for me. 335s in my area have become the new honda accord civic. generic and cheesy. good power tho.
