Xpipe question......?

I'm having second cats and res removed and the mechanic doing it is saying to go with 2.5" xpipe.

Should I go with the 3" or the 2.5" doing some searches It seems to be split down the middle on this.

Is the stock piping 2.75? So it seems to make more sense to go with the 3"

I would go with 3", but its all up to your prefrence, nothing detrimental will be changed in your performance.

The 3" will be have a better sound I would believe.

Ya no performance increase. Just looking for a more agressive sound.

Thanks

I went with the 2.5, just because thats what the shop had on hand.. The guy said the 1/4 inch decrease in diameter wouldn't make a difference.

Just got your PM bud, and Ill just respond here.. I actually had this done at a Lou's Exhaust up by me, im sure your familiar with them being from Boston.. I had them do the x pipe in place of the secondaries as thats where the factory crossover was anyways and Ive read that its better to have the x closer to the engine. From there I just ran it straight back and took out the resonators as well.. Unfortunately I dont have a clip, but it does give it a nice noticeable tone..

Yup, that's where I went to Lou's Custom in Lynn.

I'm gonna have them run the same set up. Looks good.

You are happy with this set up ? Would love to hear it.

I'm down in peabody.

Ya pretty happy with it.. I had magnaflow mufflers on before and they sounded pretty nice, but the drone was unbearable. And the mufflers didnt fit right. With the sec cat+resonator delete the tone is similar to stock, just a bit louder. One I add some Kleemann headers and delete the primary cats I think I will be very happy with the sound

Thats the same set up I just did on mine last month. I also used 2.5" pipe and the sound increase isn't crazy, but it is noticeable and is very nice.
