Getting Closer...

To getting my new to me E63 where my old E55 was.

Got the tires installed on my new wheels and a box of parts waiting to installed from lowering links, all season mats, tinted corner lights, head lights/fog lights and mirror turn signal with smoked film. I'm also going to have the front end wrapped with 3M clear bra.

New wheels and tires

My old E55

The weather was finally nice enough today to get started getting the E63 ready for spring/summer.

Got the tinted head lights/fogs and mirror film installed, lowered the rear, replaced the rear pads and installed new 20" wheels only on the rear until I get the front links installed.

Man getting the stock amber lights off were a real pain to remove.

It must be a pain cleaning the caliper in those forgestar kind of rims with criss cross grills compared to the ones you got now which look awesome. !!

I've only washed it once since I only bought it in January and its been parked until today. I did clean and waxed all four calipers

So how do you like the change? I have the same wheels too, in black. Glad you're modding the new.

Nice work man. I've been trying to tint my headlights for the last two weekends and failed badly on each attempt

Are you using a heat gun or blow dryer? If not get the film nice and warm before you pull the backing off. I know they say use only water but I mixed a little baby shampoo to help move it around better.

Heat gun.

I can deal with basic curves like the rear tail light strips or wing mirror plastics, but multi-contour curves are the work of satan.

It's like, once i use a bit of heat to stretch and satisfy a curve in one direction, it leaves me with a whole mess for the other directions because i've now got 'too much' film sagged up.

It sounds like you might be using to much heat and pulling it to hard. I didn't have to pull hard on my to line them up.

Interesting. But if I don't pull hard/firm, it wont wrap around cleanly....
Right, I'm going back out to the driveway and to try again now

lol yep, i just made a mess of it again so I polished the car instead to recover some lost pride.

It's the big oval headlight on either side that's the hard one for me. Contemplating just going to a shop next weekend to get it done now.

Sorry it didn't workout for you bro.

Yesterday I got a chance to install the front lowering links and installed the front wheels. First picture is with the ride height all the way up which will come in handy with speed bumps and low driveways.

Second picture with air ride set all the way down in sport II.

I'm going to have a friend try to set the alignment for me.

Looks good, I will be tinting the front lights as well. And yes, the front markers are a PITA to remove.

Car is looking great bro!

I tried my headlights again for a few hours....I almost cried with frustration afterwards. I didn't try with a bit of shampoo/soap in there though, so I'll give it one last attempt next weekend then take it to a shop if I fail for the third time. I love how your headlights look!
