ARH headers steering shaft clearance

ARH headers steering shaft clearance
The first sets of ARH headers had issues with the # 8 primary tube rubbing the steering shaft, and supposedly they had tweaked the design to remedy this problem.
I'm glad to report that the new sets fit perfectly! They pop right in from the bottom without removing the steering shaft, and have about 15mm clearance to the shaft at the closest point. I couldn't be happier with the setup from the quick delivery time ( even though they were out of stock) to the packaging to the build quality and fitment.
I bought these in spite of the problems earlier sets had, because I am accustomed to having to tweak aftermarket products to fit individual cars. I really wanted the 1 7/8 primaries and 1 piece tube design ( 1 7/8 stepped to 2" would be awesome) so was willing to do a little work to get a vibration free operation but that is not needed!

WOW - Nice to see the small improvement they made to the #8 Primery tube. I have the proto type and a little work to the clamp and bolt on the steering shaft and I'm good - No problems with it hitting the header.

rubbin issue with arh
i too have the original set and still have the slight rubbing only when making a left turn and giving it some throttle. if you turn "normally" and "slowly" no rubbing issue, just when you are getting it going will it rub and it "feels" worst than whats actually happening. bruce mentioned that either the bolt can be "shaved" ever so slightly, the head of bolt and the bottom of screw or the metal "ring" that encapsulates the whole piece can be taken off..... i have had these headers for some time now and with the wall thickness of the headers, it only looks like scratches on the piping and since i am aware of the issue, its really "not" an issue. i did have 1 mechanic state that he could put some "heat" to it and bend it back away but didnt feel comfortable with heating it, may cause other issues so the jest of what can be done, mind you, i have done nothing to change my set is 1) file/shave the head of bolt and bottom of bolt, not talkin about a whole lot here either, just very small amount 2) remove the square piece that surrounds the steering and replace the bolt with the square metal piece- merc place it there then felt like it should belong there and 3) heat - again i have done nothing and drive around with it just like it is.

For what it's worth, it's no big deal at all to heat a header primary and tweak it a little for more clearance. Often it's the rule rather than the exception.
However if you bought one of the original sets I'd call American Racing, they'll probably send you a new one.

headers
yeah i would agree with you for sure and im sure they would replace the headers but man i put these headers on using jackstands and after all i went thru putting them on man i didnt want to ever take them off. i decided to leave them on and get thru the rubbing and im fine with it. love the way they sound and just great piece of work they and bruce did! if i did take them off, i would like to get them coated b/c it get so damn hot under there! but im fine and i appreciate the tip. thanks!

ARH replaced my driver side header with a revised one that does not rub for free and free shipping. You should contact ARH for a replacement. Bruce is just a salesman and he worthless once he got your money.

I went on a Wednesday night and I only made 11.7x's passes. Four of them back to back. Good for a bracket car. I'll be looking for better et's shortly?
Have you made passes with your cars? Earlier in the year I went with my sons s4 and he squeaked out an 11.98.
