My car randomly calls SOS and nav/music shuts off!!

Last few days my car decides to call SOS emergency call randomly.
Nav screen and music will shut off every ten min for a few seconds.
Electronic trunk closer broke few days ago, have to slam trunk two or three times da faq.

The emergency call pisses me off bigtime. It's loud and noway to end the call for five minutes.
Just as I'm loading the cv3's in the car it calls SOS again.
I have just about had it, need my music and not SOS when I'm ballin like outta control on these cv3s.

Makes a random beep sound here and there too.
Help!

No fix to this Dima... Happened to my car for 2 years started weeks after I picked it up. I would possibly try removing anything connected to the SOS.

Some say you can take the SOS out of the loop, some say you cannot without triggering an airbag light. Looks on Benzworld, there is a pretty long thread there on this subject. Also, have you ever had your voltage regulator replaced? THere was a campaign on these, and I think that may be related....

You can safely disable SOS/Tele via SDS without any other "electronic" or "sensor" issues/warning lights...

Thank you. I'm gonna try to get the SOS shut off via star. Music shutting off is very annoying too.

nav and radio cutting off

i didnt have the sos calling going on but when my 2005 e55 did the nav and radio or cd shut off randomly, 1 component in the fiberoptic loop was malfunctioning. weird that it was the sirius sat radio b/c i didnt even have a subscription and i never turned it on??? so when i had my issue went to mb and after about $1k, finally came to the conclusion that the sirius sat radio was inoperable. i replaced many components but that 1 trying to solve it myself and finally gave up. but whenever a component in your fiberoptic loop is/has a short or not communicating properly, this will undoubtly shut off the entire system. almost make the comand unit looks like its dead but dont buy a damn thing until you can get it someone and have them das/sas it and should be able to tell you which component is causing the cutoff. hope this helps!

If your car is having trunk closer issues I will bet anything it cut a bunch of wires on the drivers side on the trunk hindge.

The wires get cut by the hard plastic that digs into them

Great feedback thank you. I will be taking care of this ten days from now after vacation. Star it is and taking trunk apart, one of those annoying issues that rly shouldn't have happened.

definitely agree!

yeah i hope its not the trunk thing cutting wires. man the brain of the whole operation called the agw (audio gatewate module) rests in the trunk on the drivers side and skatch is right, there are tons of wires back on that side with the nav, and agw, which all the wires from the stereo, sirius, bluetooth, phone, etc any and all communications in regards to radio/phone/hands free voice etc all connects to this module. yeah i replaced it too thinking it had overheated but again, it was just 1 simple component. dont let them just tell you that you need a new agw either, b/c that is the first thing they will tell you. tell them to put a "new" one in and if all checks out on your test drive then and only then fork out $1k for the labor and parts fee for just that 1 component. that module alone will take over an hour to get to, its stuck back inside this little corner, pita!! why merc do things like this!! anyway, you should be able to get to the culprit soon enough. have a nice vacation and good luck with the fix.

one day I tried closing the trunk and it would not close on its own and then I got a wired sos tele mess on the front display,I took apart the left side trunk hindge and the stupid way mb designed it has the hard plastic digging right into like 40 wires and like 10 of them were cut and even a few completely cut,I matched them up and twisted them all back together and added some padding to stop it from happening again and it fixed my issues with the trunk and sos system.

My car just started showing "SOS malfunction visit workshop" or something like that. Nothing happens though except that showing in the center display and I just hit the arrow on wheel to get out of it. It did it like 4 times the past 2 days.

Mine does the same and it seems to do this after it rains heavily.
Rains > Get the SOS Malfunction visit workshop > few days later (no rain) the warning goes away.
Nothing in my trunk appears wet or damp.

Take apart the plastic on the left hindge in the trunk while its opened.the plastic pops off and you will see near the end that when the trunk closes it crimps a crap load of wires.

Now when it rains at that same exact spot water will pass threw and channel down threw the trunk and out from under the license plate area.

I'll bet you have some cut up wires on there my friend.

It was rainy the other day when it did this, can't remember if it was during that time or not. It is sunny now and it hasn't done it again yet.
