2007 E63 Reliability
Hi everyone! I'm looking at getting a 2007 E63 with 48k miles on it (with no accidents), but wanted to get everyone's take on the reliability of this car. I don't want to get into something where I'll be having to fix it every few months.
From looking at the carfax, the particular car i'm looking at seems to have had a lot of things changed/repaired throughout its life, starting from when it was only a few months old. Some of the things are as follows:
AIR valve replaced
AIR injection pump replaced/repaired
Oxygen sensor replaced
Intake air tempature sensor replaced
Intake manifold gasket replaced
Battery cable(s) replaced
Tire repaired
Dipstick tube replaced
Brake master cylinder cap replaced
Steering angle sensor replaced
Battery replaced
Air filter replaced
Steering wheel replaced
Front strut(s) replaced
Do these repairs sound normal/typical? Or should I stay away from this car?
Need some expert advice from you guys! Thanks!

none of those are crazy out of the ordinary issues. 2007 E63's can be a shot in the dark, but you did your research on the car and it looks straight forward. i'd pick it up for the right price, look into an aftermarket warranty if it doesn't come with one.

Bought mine with 32k, one owner car. Full maint repiepts...now has 45k on it, and only done routine oil changes @5kmi, trans service at 40k, and brake job, which I do all my own maint after trans service.
Been SUPER happy with it.

I just read 4 pages and have no idea what ultimately the problem was in this case except a dealer in Eugene TX that maybe wasn't at the top of their game.
The thread never gave a disposition of the original problem and then morphed into another owner giving his version of another problem.
Not definitive at all in my opinion. But Ty for link.

I see it as no better than a crap shoot. Most M156's are perfect and give nothing but smiles.
Then there are the anomolys that ruin the reputation.
I deal with it in the diesel world all the time. A few bad egg trucks ruin the reputation of thousands that are perfect and exhibit no issues. Yet nobody talks about the good, yet only focus on failures.
Yes failures happen...even on $100k vehicles...it's just the way it is.
Mr.CTS-V...I've seen MORE than my fair share of LS engines spew their guts on the ground due to weak rod bolts...everyone knows it, yet keep building them.
It's just the nature if high horsepower engines.

pull the maintenance records from whatever deal did the repairs, find out why all of that was replaced. How many owners? i pulled all 215 pages of records for my car.. went over every page. you would be amazed what you find. Carfax is worthless IMHO make sure all the maintenance is up to date.. TAKE THE CAR FOR A BUYERS INSPECTION dont take anyones word about the condition of the car.
Sounds like you have a lot of research to do before you buy.

I have 57K on my 2008 E63, and it runs great! The 6.3 is a very reliable motor! I bought the car with 21k already on it. I have not had a problem other than the engine mounts which were replaced under warranty.![thumbs](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/thumbsup.gif)
