E63 Regret
Bought an 07 E63 with 50K. Physical condition is superb. I can't believe all of the warning messages and bugs I'm having;
1. ESP is inoperative
2. Key battery is low (I just replaced it a week ago)
3. Get's stuck in first and won't shift out
An $85K sticker car with 50K miles should not be having these issues. PERIOD. What is going on? While I love the car and it's performance, the quality is very disappointing. What else should I expect to go wrong? Starting to question whether I made a good decision.
Thought?

Have you tried the basic task of disconnecting the battery? These cars are as computerized as it gets. A possible tcu reset may help.

2. You have a faulty key- there seems to have been a bad batch
3. Probably a faulty trans valve body or electric plate
All common E63 issues, along with broken/stretched head bolts on the engine. Do you have an extended warranty? If not this may be the time to
look into one.
Other than these issues, the rest of the car is pretty solid. Mercedes builds very complex vehicles..they ride and drive like nothing else, but the downside is more things to go wrong.

Yes for the ESP module, replaced mine already at purchase
Key batteries, possible 1 weak battery in fob, tried duracell in one fob have I think Philips cheapies in the other fob. Once in a while will get key batteries low but the car doors always open and the car starts with key less go.
Does the trans normally start in 2nd when just placing the shifter in Drive and operate normally, I am thinking issue is with the paddles , possibly?? How does it shift using the shifter to change through the gears?
Have read a lot of info on the bolt issues seems like the C63 has a lot more failures, not sure if it the way the guys are flogging the cars or just unlucky??
Have two cars E63 and a CLK63 both 07 no issues what so ever, sorry had to replace the AC compressor on the E took 4 hours DIY, seized for some reason after sitting idle for six weeks but then again the cars are not beaten, both ran non stop for 1200 miles no oil used and no coolant loss.
These cars never fail to put a smile on my face hopefully that will continue.

To the OP tell us more, you blame the quality of the car, did you buy it from a Mercedes Benz dealer with an extended warranty?

Sorry to hear about all of your problems. Mine has been rock solid for the past 5+ years of ownership. Still drives like a dream, and turns a lot of heads.
Hope you get things sorted out soon.

The transporters from NJ show up at auction in Davie FL full of cars that are too clean. And leave full of cars that need to be cleaned.

Original poster here. Thanks for the feedback. To clarify a few things though; Yes, I realize it's a used car. I do have the service records. No major issues. It' a cali car, so not a submarine.
My point is if I am the original owner or not, I'm surprised a car like this can have this many bugs. I am beginning to learn how complex they are (2 batteries?!?!?). Naturally, it has more things to break so I get that.
I love the car and plan to stick with it. Flexing my right foot seems to make all of those other concerns go away :-)

Glad to see you are enjoying the car. Since ownership, i've had things fail and needed replacement and swear to sell the car. But when i get in and stomp the gas and see how it performs, i see why i purchased it.

Scott, Your E63 has only 1 battery and it is in the trunk, under the mat on the passenger side. If it is the original battery then a replacement would not be a waste of money. Look for a dating on the battery to be sure, these cars like good constant voltage and a weak or old battery will put a strain on the altenator as well as other components which will lead to more pop ups on the dash. Stay strong and enjoy, the 55 guys are showing some envy as they wish they had one too. Bring on the h8ters of the 63, not everyone buys a perfect car oh did we say heat soak, never experienced this in a 63! Oh yes get the ESP fixed ASAP, you need it.

Aston Martin V8 Vantage
none of those are serious issues IMO. they are a bit pricey though. more than likely, your conductor plate is bad and expect to spend about $1,400 at the dealer with parts and labor. they do the tranny service at the same time they replace it usually (at least they did for me). as for the ESP, just have them do an hour or two diagnostic while you're at it.

Main battery is in the trunk. (no pic required) Auxillary battery is in the engine compartment, passenger side under cowling, near the firewall. (arrow is pointing to the aux battery relay that I used to show another board memeber the location.)

Fast forward to 2min 30sec to see my stock E55 with only a tune against a E63.
The E63 is a great car, but will have a tough time keeping up with an E55 once any mods are added.
The fastest W211 E63 is running 11.95 in the quarter mile on dragtimes, there are a number of E55s in the low 10's at this point.
