2009 E63 for Sale / Ideas to Replace????
I am ditching the car in the sig. Drove this and another E63/E55 for 7+ years. Enough for E Class. Still love AMG.
Very nice 09 never driven in rain, never driven hard, 100% stock, always garaged. Has P2 package, etc. New pilot super sport tires, under factory warranty until September 2013. Wheel warranty included. 34,500 miles.
Looking to sell and also looking for ideas to replace.
What's out there?
Thanks for your help.

A Caddy CTS-V is a no brainer upgrade from the E if you like the size and feel of your car but want something more up to date and in the E63 case, you want to get something faster with more potential. If you'ld prefer to stay AMG, those newer TT CLS63 cars are coming down in price and have huge appeal to me anyways in regards to aesthetics and modability.

what about build quality and materials?
what about looks? im sorry but the CTS-V is just UGLY in my OP and SCREAMS american poor styling design.
i understand that looks are subject to individual taste but theres a reason y the perception when someone says "it has a European design" is looked apon as a good thing as apposed to "it has that distinct american design"
that being said i think that JEEP may have gotten it right with there new JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE.
they have come the closest to a European designed car than any other american car manufacturer in looks, feel and quality to date.

Your opinions wreak of bias. It's ok if you don't like the way a new V looks, because as you said looks are subjective. Go ask twenty guys who the most beautiful woman in the world is, you'll get twenty answers.
"distinct European design" means just that. Euro cars share certain style cues, as do American cars, and Japanese cars. The Koreans play copy cat, and that's ok too, they obviously have a place in the market. But "distinct european design" only is a bonus if you find that design attractive. On the flip side, if you're not into American stuff, you're not likely to call something "the Cadillac of______" meaning that you think it's the upper echelon of whatever you're referring to, which whether you like it or not is part of some people's vocabulary.
The CTS-Vs I'm referring to are the last 5 years iterations of them, not the older ones. The new GM stuff is on point, there's no doubt about it. Is a 65k 2013 V A-Z as good as a 105k 2013 E63? Nah and it shouldn't be, but it's pretty f**king close. But to compare the latest Caddy version to a W211 and call it a step down in any way is nonsensical. These cars are awesome, especially for their time and I own a super clean and well maintained example myself. But in the past ten years Mercedes has slipped a little bit while GM has really been putting in the effort, and it shows.

in my OP thats a BIG down grade in every category but power potential compared to an E55/63.

well we both have our OP on the matter and really dont need to mess up this thread with euro vs america so we should leave it at that

but saying MB has been slipping the past 10 years is just wrong, the past 5 they have nothing but improved and have spent a fortune trying to get pack there reliability and quality name back.
one thing i can tell you from first hand experience.
im not trying to brag or boast or put myself above anyone as im sure alot of people on here are quite wealthy.
but here in the Hamptons and in NYC (Manhattan not the suburbs) where the average home is well over 1.5 mill you would have a better chance finding a white elephant in your living room then finding a Cadillac in there driveways.
i honestly cant remember the last time ive actually seen a Cadillac.
ill take a video driving through Southampton and east Hampton Sag Harbor towns so you can get an idea of what i mean.
the point im trying to make is the the people who can afford the best aint buying a caddy.
and they cant all be DUMB

This place is a joke.
Ride quality in a Caddy cannot be compared to an MB...Once you own a Benz everything else with a few exceptions just doesn't ride as good. Even BMW feels less refined.

Ultra high performance sedans aren't usually appealing to the super wealthy, AMGs and Vs from what I've observed appeal more to the 25-45 crowd in the 60-200k range of income. I grew up on LI and always thought the Hampton types to be more likely to buy a Maybach than an S65 even if the S65 is 200K cheaper and can outperform it in every way. Or to drop the cheese on a Patek just because of the way it looks and who notices it.. To hell with what it actually does for the money.
However many gearheads have noticed the level of quality and speed that those newer Vs offer, and regardless of their standings with the grey poupon types, are a very attractive alternative to an AMG when bought a few years old for a fraction of sticker.

Thanks for the replies gents. I am looking very closely at a 2014 GT-R Black Edition in white. The price with my car is $67,000. I hate to give up ride quality and functionality of the E63 but Godzilla runs stock 0-60 in 2.7 seconds and 1/4 mile ET of 11.1. Insane numbers so the GTR is calling my name.
Do not want to go up to the P-car or Ferrari but am probably missing something in between.
The Black CTS V is a monster as is the ZR1 and both cars are affordable but the Nissan is stealth looking to me (ugly to others).
Is there anything else I should consider?

Can't believe that not one person has shown an interest in a perfect, low mileage E63 with new Michelin Pilot Super Sport tires. MB only made 425 of these bad boys.
