Weld racing wheels setup?

of course I would have to modify the fenders and maybe purchase adapters, but that is no problem. My main concern is that I drive the car somewhat daily..maybe about 20-50 miles a week. Is it even possible to run a 16" tire on the rear? I want it to look like a drag car but will not be drag racing it. I have no concerns for losing handling characteristics. Also what drag wheel would last the longest in terms of mileage and treadlife. Thanks.
