EC Supercharger pulley failure... :(

Well on a good note, Jerry appreciated the pictures. They're going to send me a new pulley once I get the old one off.
It'll have to wait until tomorrow since I can't crack the bolt w/o an air tool...Forgot how much of a pain in the *** it was to do.
I used all the shims, per Shardul's instructions. Mileage I'm not sure, but I've only had the pulley for less than 6 months, and I don't drive it much. Driving hard? Probably once ever 1-2 weeks. I take care of my car. It was spaced properly. So I don't really know. Maybe it was just a bad pulley. Bought it in November.

I haven't installed mine yet I bought mine in February. Anything I should look or check for or just install it and see how it works? Don't want to use the word bad batch but is there a difference between earlier ones and later ones built or is this something we will all need to deal with at one point.

I am seeing a lot of questions asking about a "bad batch" Did we in any way confirm that it was a bad batch, or is it a problem with the strap that was, and is still used on all of them?
Just want to make sure I make mine right. I just got mine less than 2 weeks ago. If there is a such thing as an updated pulley, I would think I have it. Question is, who confirmed there ever was an update?

^ Good point.
It would be nice if Shardul or a Eurocharged rep would chime in to clarify.
EDIT: Just got in touch with Shardul... The new pulleys have a different spring.

I picked up mine in Nov 2012. Checked the car last night and so far no cracks/breaks. When were the new pulleys sent out?

M112 guy reporting in... Looks like mine hasn't failed yet, but I'm not sure how much time I have.
This is an early batch EC 65mm pulley on the M112 3.2 Kompressor.
Note the stress crack near the rivet.
Also worth noting, the back of the pulley is now making permanent contact with the supercharger clutch. Clutch can be spun by hand, but not freely. Pulley has already been adjusted twice to alleviate this, each time adding shims to allow a gap. So, the springs are clearly letting loose, as I keep losing the gap over time. I'll contact Jake/Jerry privately, no reason to believe that they won't support the return as they've offered stellar service to me and my Crossfire brethren in the past.
All the best,

^You've got the telltale reddish-brown dust like me. I'll check mine when I get home in a week or so.
In somewhat related news, Shardul says the tuning for the new clutchless upper pulley has been sorted out.

Eurocharged is sending me a revised replacement...
Its a comforting feeling to deal with a tuner that stands behind their product (or a product they endorse)

All the best,
As for my second unit, just checked it last night everything seems to be fine. No crack, no dust.

Totally NOT what I wanted to hear, but what I suspected. I'll drive it gingerly the next few days until I can swap out with a backup. No telling how long that one spring has been cracked.

that still doesn't say what the visual difference is. Can someone post a side by side of the old v/s new? I'm interested as well... did I ever mention smart asses are full ratards?

This isn't rocket science folks.
Call up EC/Jerry and find out when the new ones with new springs were sent out and verify against when you purchased it.
I'd venture a guess that EC/Jerry will chime in here soon. But in the meantime, why not call and find out? I'm surprised nobody has called yet.

I have contacted Shardul since I purchased mine directly from him. But it would be nice to see a side by side of the new and older ones posted together. Now go read the thread and see that several people have contacted Jerry/EC...the jury is still out at this point

Exactly my point. it's simple, now people have to wait to hear back.
