USED AMG opinions
There are several E55 w211s out there for sale. MANY are in the ballpark of 100k miles. MOST do not have a warranty. if all things are relatively equal on a ppi, would you guys think a 180k w211 with a 3 year warranty be preferable to a 100k w211 without one? by default, wear and tear items will be a bigger issue i would think on a 180k even if well kept right? is it worth it?

This place is a joke.
Recently drove a CL55 with 208k. The car was not well maintained but still going, engine was smooth and quiet. 180k mls, thats a lot..you'd have to buy that car cheap, say 7k or less to even consider it.

180K miles will require a lot of $$$ to repair and maintain ! those 3 year warranty are just BS, they won't cover much specially a high mileage AMG car won't get any good warranty plan.

For cars with that mileage, find a good indy shop or learn to DIY what you can yourself. Its going to add up $$$ in repairs, so set aside a couple thousand a year for repair/maintenence.

If you find one for 7K and it's in good running condition I'll buy it right now even if it has 300K miles on it.

High mileage E55's don't scare me.
It is all about preventive maintenance and tending to those issues that we all know need tlc
I would take a clean car with 200K miles that was well cared for than one with 50k and a shoddy history.

I bought my 06 with 40,000 miles and have dumped $6000 into it for repairs in the last 40k miles. (2 years) One air shock and pump, new gas tank, now the auto ac system is not working correctly. That doesnt include the two sets of rear tires and one set of fronts. I wouldnt consider myself a hard driver. My 07 tacoma has 250,000 miles and I have spent ZERO on repairs. Still.. I love this car. It is the best car I have ever owned in terms of driving experience. A warranty is definitely your friend. Id keep $2k set aside in the bank for future repairs if you get one.
